Statement of Appreciation
On behalf of Afghanistan people, we extend our sincere gratitude to the Government of Ireland and, in particular, to Minister Helen Mc Entee TD, for Ireland’s continued solidarity with the people of Afghanistan.
We deeply appreciate Ireland’s steadfast commitment to supporting Afghan women and girls, whose fundamental rights and freedoms continue to face severe restrictions. Ireland’s efforts to advocate for human rights, accountability, dignity and the protection of vulnerable Afghan communities are both meaningful and greatly valued.
We also sincerely acknowledge Ireland’s humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan and its continued support for Afghans who have been forced to flee persecution and seek safety and dignity.
At this important anniversary, we thank Minister Helen McEntee for her leadership and for ensuring that the voices and rights of Afghan women and the wider Afghan community remain part of Ireland’s international engagement.
The Afghan Union of Ireland stands grateful for Ireland’s continued friendship, solidarity and support for the people of Afghanistan.
🇦🇫 Afghan Union of Ireland 🇮🇪
Five years on from the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, Ireland stands firmly with the Afghan people, in particular the women and girls whose fundamental rights have been taken away from them.
We will continue to use our voice internationally to demand accountability and to press for the dignified treatment of all Afghans.
Ireland will also continue to support vulnerable communities and those fleeing persecution. Since 2020, my Department has provided more than €20 million in humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.
On this anniversary, we stand in full solidarity with the people of Afghanistan.
