Back to School Clothing & Footwear Allowance 2026
The Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance (BSCFA) is a means-tested once-off payment to help families with the cost of school clothing and footwear.
💶 2026 rates:
• Ages 2–11: €160 per child
• Ages 12–22: €285 per child
(18–22-year-olds must be returning to second-level education.)
👶 New for 2026: The €160 payment now includes eligible children aged 2 and 3.
✅ You may qualify if you receive a qualifying social protection payment or participate in an approved employment, education or training scheme, meet the income limits, and satisfy the other conditions.
📅 Applications: 1 June – 30 September 2026
Many eligible families will receive the payment automatically. If you haven't received an award notification by the end of June, check your eligibility and apply.
