Seed Library is Now Open!

Clarkeville Flowers are proud to announce the launch of their Seed Library, which follows an appeal for seed donations in May. Clarke’s Flowers express their gratitude to those who generously donated to the project.

This resource is designed to help residents borrow, grow, and return seeds while supporting greater biodiversity within the gardens of Palmerstown. The project’s intent is by providing 'free' seeds to foster a greater sharing of local expertise and knowledge. Now it is up and running, library members can take seeds to grow in their own garden and return new produced seeds at the end of the season.

For more information, contact Clarkeville Flowers on 01 625 8957.

PCC Open Meeting - Tuesday 6th October @ 8pm in 24 Manor Road.

Palmerstown Community Council invites you to attend an open public meeting on Tuesday 6th October. Come along and have your say!

Palmerstown Community Council (PCC) has been in existence since 1973. It is a totally voluntary organisation registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG).

The purpose of PCC as set out in the Constitution can be summed up as:

(a) To represent the community of Palmerstown in the County of South Dublin in the preservation, protection and improvement of the amenities and environment in the locality.

(b) To provide a framework and promote a community spirit within which individuals and organisations can work together in the promotion of the environmental, cultural, economic and social interests of the community.

By definition a Community Council is of the community, is a forum that promotes only the good of the Palmerstown Community, meaning that is open and available to all residents of Palmerstown and to all organisations that operate in the community for the promotion of dialogue and collaborative action to the benefit and wellbeing of the people of Palmerstown.

PCC has been involved in many successful campaigns down the years, for example
turning the former dump at Waterstown into a wonderful park and being to the forefront in campaigning for a Liffey Valley Park (still ongoing). And in securing the Community and Youth Centre, the Library and the use of the former Health Centre in Manor Road for community use. The list goes on.

So does the need for the Community Council. The current Executive members of PCC, elected at the AGM, meet once a month in our premises at Manor Road. This is a closed meeting, but PCC is also obliged to hold Public Meetings once a month. Like a lot of voluntary organisations, these public meeting fell away due to Covid.

PCC is now restoring these monthly meetings. All residents of Palmerstown and of organisations operating in the community are entitles to attend and are invited to come and express their concerns and views.
