Well there was no fooling you all with the secret celeb! It was indeed the wonderful Daniel O'Donnell. We reached out to Daniel to ask him to just say 'Thank you for caring' but he very kindly sent a longer and very heartfelt message of care and appreciation.

I hope this will bring a smile to some of you Daniel fans!

I'd love to hear what your favourite Daniel song or Daniel memory is!

I grew up in Daniel's corner of Donegal and have met him many times. He's such a genuinely wonderful caring person. My favourite memory of him is coming along to my Granny's funeral when I was very young. She was a friend of his and a massive fan and without any fanfare he asked if we'd mind if he sang 'The Old Rugged Cross' for her one last time. I know she'd have been so grateful.

Thank you for this message Daniel O'Donnell and for everyone else, Thank you for caring.

Can anyone guess the next person who wants to wish you all a happy carers week?

This year’s Carers Week theme is ‘Thank you for caring’.

We are gathering together some voices from around the country, including some well known faces, to share their appreciation and recognition of the work, impact and worth of family carers.

What better way to start than to share the collective voices of the incredible Dublin Gospel Choir who wanted to share their admiration and appreciation.

Are you an employer looking to cut absenteeism and retain talented employees? 1 in 9 employees in Ireland is a family carer and that figure is set to rise by 2030. When you support carers, you boost productivity and reduce turnover and unplanned absenteeism.

We are delighted to launch 'The Caring Workplace Initiative', a joint project by Acquired Brain Injury Ireland and Care Alliance Ireland. This is a free programme designed to support employers to create and maintain a carer-friendly workplace. If you want to retain your talented employees, you need to act now! Caring for a loved one with dementia?

The Herbert Protocol is a form that contains important information about a person living with dementia, including a description of what they look like, a recent photo, any medications they take, important phone numbers to call, and places from their past that provide comfort and familiarity. The Herbert Protocol was first established in the UK, where it has been used many times to help police and other agencies quickly and safely locate missing people who have dementia. If a loved one is reported missing, the family hands this completed form directly to An Garda Síochána. This eliminates the need for Gardaí to conduct lengthy interviews during the critical first hour of a search, allowing Gardaí to deploy resources immediately to the locations where the person is most likely to be found.

Completing your Herbert Protocol form is an important step in being prepared for living with dementia. Families are encouraged to keep a printed copy in a prominent place at home and to provide a digital copy to trusted family members.
