Sisters of Faith for Peace

Sisters of Faith for Peace Irish Women's Interfaith Organisation The SFP are proud to have Sabina Higgins, wife of President of Ireland, Michael D.

About Us:
Sisters of Faith for Peace (SFP) are women of all faiths, coming together to work for peace by transcending the boundaries of their own faith and culture, thereby uniting together to work for the common purpose of peace. Higgins, as Patron

As women we firmly believe that we have valuable qualities that lend themselves to the process of nurturing unity and enriching each other in our di

versity - qualities of forgiveness, compassion, peace and reconciliation, and that lasting peace can be achieved by women working alongside the men, regardless of religious background, race or culture in mutual dignity and respect, based on love. We desire to do this through our interaction with one another, working jointly on peace activities, sharing and socialising, as well as offering workshops and awareness-raising events. We believe that this sets a condition over time, for the world to heal some of its differences. Just like when you drop a pebble into the water, the ripples expand. Sisters of Faith for Peace is aiming to be that pebble. Sisters of Faith for Peace was founded by Doris McCann, Sr. Sabina Anokwu (MSHR), Mariyam Nasir Burki, Fardus Sultan and Deirdre O'Donnell.

'Sisters of Faith for Peace' are a member of and are endorsing the Charter for Compassion.

We had an amazing time participating in the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon 2024.
The weather was perfect and we had a great group of remarkable women of all ages.
It’s always a pleasure reconnecting with our ladies. 💕

We were thrilled taking part in the VHI Women’s Mini Marathon 2023 (4 June) - Team SFP walking together with our amazing sisters, going beyond boundaries of faith, cultures and even age - we were Muslim, Christian and Jewish women with two young-in-heart nuns in their 80’s! 😄
All the while, we were supporting a great cause, raising funds for women Afghan athletes living in Ireland who were forced to flee their country after the Taliban seized power.
We have raised 727€ so far.

It was such a fantastic day, the weather was glorious, and we could form friendships while we challenged to walk the 10k.

This time, we had capes featuring our SFP logo, which was great fun, and also provided an opportunity to talk to people about our group.
We also had a good bit of fun with the Wonder Women theme 😊

Several family members came and joined us at the start and the end and cheered us on.

Our chairwoman Doris was interviewed by a correspondent and the article was subsequently featured in the Irish Independent.

What an incredible night we had at the iftar (fast-breaking meal during Ramadan) earlier this week, with the amazing ladies from the Muslim Association of Ireland (Irish MAI Endowment) also known as the Tallaght Mosqu!

We enjoyed such a warm welcome: while seated in a beautiful space, we had a wonderful time meeting each other and having fun during the interactive programme. And let's not forget the wonderfully tasty food: from a range of salad spreads, variety of starters, dips and soups to scrumptious rice and mouth-watering chicken and even sweeter deserts, drinks and coffee! We were truly spoiled for choice and were even gifted small tokens to remember the evening! As if we could forget!

We are deeply very thankful for such an amazing welcome and a wonderful opportunity to connect and learn about each other in such an enjoyable way.

Thank you to all the ladies who worked so hard on the evening from the wonderful programme to amazing food: 🤲 may God reward you abundantly for all your efforts and hard work, truly amazing: we loved every moment and the time just fly by!!!

We pray and hope we enjoy meeting new and old friends at many future events and until then, you can enjoy some of the images from the event and read a few testimonials below:

"A huge and sincere thank you for.. such a beautiful event yesterday. I have heard so much about the work of Sisters of Faith for Peace,..but this was my first chance to attend an in-person event. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed having the chance to dialogue with such a genuinely diverse group of women and how powerful it was... to be able to communicate across language and culture to commonalities. The women of other faiths at my table and I were agreeing what a privilege it was to observe our sisters praying and being in a position to break the fast with them".

"Thank you so very much again for a lovely and very enlightening evening on Monday last at the Tallaght mosque. And again to commend you for the work you are doing to unite people of different faiths and create harmony, may you be blessed in all directions" (A guest who joined us from Wexford).

What a day we had yesterday at the VHI Women’s Mini Marathon in Dublin! (5 June 2022)
So proud of our group, and we loved every minute of it. ❤️Enjoying each other’s company across the different faiths, while we challenged ourselves to walk the 10km. In spite of the non-stop rain we had so much fun it made it easy 😍
Also, we were raising funds for our individual charities of choice with this walk.
Here’s to next year - go Team Sisters of Faith for Peace 😉

We loved our Family Walk and Picnic this past Sunday (15/05/2022)! We had a lovely group of people from several different faith communities and really enjoyed just to connect and be together in such a relaxing and friendly way, across the boundaries of the different faiths. We were truly lucky with the weather as the rain set in the following day. The pictures speak for themselves :)
With this event we could also honour the UN Day of Families which takes place annually on this date.
Thank you to all who came along and enjoyed the day with us.

Our ‘Mary in Islam’ Event this past Thursday (12/5/2022) was so inspiring. Fardus gave an insightful and very engaging presentation about this topic which was followed by a lively Q&A session. It was fascinating to learn about this especially for Christian’s who may not have been aware of Mary's significance in Islam, and to see the connection between the different Abrahamic faiths.
Huge thanks to the Margaret Aylward Centre for hosting and creating such a welcoming atmosphere and in particular to Dympna Mallon for organising the event. :)
