Great Garda Run is a charitable event involving members of An Garda Siochana (the Irish Police Force) taking part in worldwide marathons in aid of various Irish based charities. Since being founded, Great Garda Run has seen participants take part in the Paris Marathon in 2008 and the Chicago Marathon in 2009. 85 Participants raised over €115,000 in 2008 for Irish Third World charity GOAL. In 2009

, 150 participants raised over €270,000 for the Marie Keating Foundation.

2012 will see the Great Garda Run team take part in the Munich Marathon on 14th October 2012 with participants aiming to raise over €100,000 for Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin. Since its inception, the ethos of Great Garda Run has been that participants fund ALL expenses incurred in this event resulting in EVERY CENT raised going directly to the charity which is to benefit. Each participant has a sponsorship quota which he/she must raise.
