Our programme areas include youthwork, youth homeless, education for early school leavers, community childcare and many others all wit the intention of providing opportunity to young people and their communities. Founded in 1849 we are the second oldest YMCA in the world. Our HQ is @ our Aungier Street facility and we work from many other bases including our Sandymount YMCA. We are open to all, regardless of faith, social class, ethnicity, age or gender.

We are looking for an Afterschool Worker to join our childcare team at YMCA Dublin, based our community hubs in Parkside and De Verdon Place.

This role will support children’s participation, wellbeing and development through activities, daily routines and positive relationships.

⏱️𝗛𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀: 22.5 hours per week during term time, with 30 to 40 hours per week during school holidays

Young people from our Local Champions group recently attended the Garda Youth Awards. These awards celebrate outstanding young people and recognises the valuable work they are doing in their communities.

Our Local Champions group were awarded with the ‘Community Safety Award’ as a result of their community action project, which examined substance misuse in the community.

Children will enjoy fun-filled days packed with arts and crafts, games, outdoor play, and new friendships — all in a safe and welcoming environment led by experienced staff.

We recently organised a trip to Glendalough for European Solidarity Corps volunteers across YMCA Dublin locations, alongside volunteers from Depaul and YMCA West Dublin.

The day was an opportunity for volunteers to spend time together outside of their placements, connect with others involved in community-based work and enjoy a change of scenery together.

We’re very grateful for the time, energy and care volunteers bring to our communities across Dublin.

This position is ideal for someone who wants to develop skills, gain accredited qualifications, and build recent work experience within their local community.

We’re delighted to share Túath Housing Association’s video marking the first anniversary of the Tuath Foundation, which includes a look at our work together at YMCA Dublin’s community hub in De Verdon Place.

Through our partnership with Tuath at De Verdon Place, we are bringing a local approach to community development to life through shared spaces, strong relationships and ongoing engagement with resident and community needs.

As Shauna, our Community Projects Manager, explains in the video, this work helps create a welcoming local environment where children, young people and families can access support, build connections and develop their own sense of community.
