BABS Be Aware Be Safe (B.A.B.S), is a free app designed as an empowerment tool to promote mental well-bein Barbara’s story. Barbara was known as Babs to her friends.

Barbara Sheridan aged 43 years old. Barbara lived a life clouded by mental health issues. Barbara was very creative and wrote a beautiful book and had this published. Barbara also had a love for all animals and would spend her free time pursuing this love. Coming to the end of Barbara’s life she started to go on walks. Barbara would not tell anyone were she was going or when she would return. On t

wo separate occasions Barbara’s family had to go looking for her and bring her home. This caused stress for both Barbara and her family and friends. Unfortunately, on the last walk Barbara went on she never came home. Barbara’s family and friends had looked for her all night but they were unable to find her. Barbara was eventually found lying on the hillside of Howth head. Barbara passed away in hospital that night. Barbara’s family had tried to help. This was the hardest part of Barbara taking her own life and what the family find the hardest to accept. Barbara was seen by a psychiatrist that day. Barbara’s story is a very sad one. Unfortunately, this story has become common place in modern society. This started me thinking. Is there an idea I could come with that would help people with mental health issues and help preserve the memory of Barbara and all the good she did in her life and make sure her story remains told so it can help others? I came up with the idea of having an app that could be down loaded to your phone and other devices. This would be supported by a drop in centre. I believed that the two could be very useful to people dealing with mental health issues. I decided to call the App B.A.B.S. after Barbara. It also stands for Be Aware Be safe. This is targeted at the person using the app. If the user can be more aware of themselves and their surrounding they can learn to keep themselves safe. The app is about empowerment. Giving the user the right tools and training to set clear plans with set goals. The app also give the user the ability to look at how far they have come. The app allows the user to document what works for them. The app can also be used to help with treatment.

Politics is not just about smiles, handshakes, and election promises.

As voters, we need to look deeper.

When politicians say:
“We didn’t vote for rent increases”
ask yourself:
Did they vote for the budget?
Did their party support the policy?
Did they challenge it publicly before the backlash started?

Too often, political debates rely on technical wording, half-truths, and carefully managed messaging. The public deserves better than spin and gaslighting.

Before the by-election, don’t just look at the individual candidate standing at your door.
Look at:
• the party they represent
• how that party voted in council meetings
• how they voted in the Dáil
• whether they supported policies that increased pressure on working people, renters, families, and those already struggling

Watch the council meetings.

Watch Dáil debates live.
Read the motions and budgets for yourself.

Because sometimes the biggest political tricks are not outright lies; they are the small pieces of wording and “sleight of hand” used to avoid responsibility.

Democracy only works when voters stay informed.

Don’t vote based on slogans.
Vote based on actions, records, and results.

The ethics complaint refers to the alleged use of an official car provided to McAdam in his role as Dublin lord mayor for a byelection event.

With all the news and debate in the Dail we thought we would share this again.

This is your reminder — this by-election matters.

Right now in Ireland:

Families are struggling with the cost of living.
Transport costs are rising.

And €35 million worth of electric buses are sitting unused.

Let that sink in.

That’s not bad luck.
That’s not complicated.

That’s a lack of accountability.

At the same time:
The Children’s Hospital is still delayed after years and billions spent.
Homelessness is at record levels — thousands of children without a home.

So ask yourself:

Who is being held responsible?

Because if you don’t vote,
no one has to answer to you.

This by-election is your chance to say:
Enough is enough.

Not online.
Not in conversations.

At the ballot box.

If you want accountability, vote.
If you want change, vote.
If you want your voice heard, vote.

Because staying silent is the same as accepting it.
