Dodder Action The Dodder and its tributaries are a fabulous natural amenity in Dublin that has sadly been abused and neglected for far too long.

Action group set up to clean the Dodder and its tributaries, improve facilities and amenities along its length and fulfil the potential of this fabulous natural resource. In 2010 members of the Irish Green Party and local residents organised clean ups of the river on approximately 12 weekends from the Firhouse Weir to Clonskeagh. Following on from this, members of the Green Party with the help of a group of local people decided to organise cleanups along the river which was badly damaged in the devastating floods of October 2011. The short term goal of the group is to remove litter from the river and its surroundings, medium term to increase basic facilities such as increasing the amount of litter bins and benches along the route and long term to exploit its potential as a recreational area and find a solution to the dumping of rubbish in the river.

🌿 Tallaght, come and be part of something special! 🦋🌳

Everyone in our community is invited to join us on Friday 16 October, from 3pm to 4.30pm, for the launch of the St Mary’s Priory Nature Restoration Project. We have a really interesting lineup of speakers for you.

This is your chance to discover how we can work together to bring nature back to the heart of Tallaght Village, protect our local wildlife and breathe new life into the historic grounds of St Mary’s Priory.

From planting native trees and restoring wildflower meadows to creating wildlife ponds and havens for pollinators, there’s so much we can achieve when local people come together for nature.

🌱 And you don’t have to be an expert or an experienced volunteer to get involved. Whether you live nearby, work in Tallaght, belong to a local group, represent a business or simply care about nature, we’d love you to be part of this journey.

🤝 Facilitated by Dodder Action, and supported by the Priory community and local environmental partners, this is a community-led project with a vision that reaches far beyond the Priory grounds.

Our ambition is to create a place where people, nature and heritage can thrive together.
