FREE CPD-ACCREDITED TRAUMA-INFORMED APPROACH TRAINING.

⚠️ MYS STAFF ONLY
This training is exclusively for MYS staff.

Join Youth Work Ireland’s Our Generation team for two practical, interactive training days exploring how trauma can affect young people and how we can better support them.

Understanding adversity and trauma
The impact of trauma on development, behaviour and relationships
Building resilience and supporting recovery
Practical trauma-informed approaches for your everyday work

📅 Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 November 2026
🕙 10:00am–4:00pm both days
📍 Fairways Hotel, Dundalk, Co. Louth
🎓 CPD accredited by Safeguarding Board NI — 3 credits per module
☕ Tea, coffee and lunch provided both days.
🏨 Accommodation is not included.

Participants must be over 18, work or volunteer with children or young people, and attend the full training on both days.

We visited Ventry Youth Club last Friday to carry out a consultation around, youth leadership, youth clubs, and inclusion and exclusion. It was amazing to see the wonderful work within such a small rural community for young people.

Throwback Thursday!
We’re looking back at September, when we spent three days delivering accredited Trauma-Informed Approach training with YouthWork Ireland Cavan Monaghan Youth Work Ireland Cavan and Monaghan, recognised by the Safeguarding Board NI, as part of the Our Generation programme. OUR Generation

By completing this training, the teams are showing their commitment to embedding trauma-informed approaches in their organisations and their work. These approaches can build connections and help organisations stay rooted in their core values of Inclusion, Safety, Trustworthiness, Choice, Collaboration and Empowerment.

Last Monday our Proud Spaces Community of Practice came together for a valuable learning and sharing session.
A huge thank you to - Transgender Equality Network Ireland for facilitating an insightful training on trans healthcare, helping to build understanding and confidence in supporting transgender young people.
Youth Work For All means ensuring that youth workers have the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to create safe, inclusive, and welcoming spaces for all young people. Through opportunities like these, we can continue to strengthen our practice and better meet the needs of the diverse young people we work with.

We were delighted to attend the EU Youth Conference 2026 as exhibitors, showcasing the impact of youth work and highlighting our Youth Work For All campaign.
It was inspiring to engage with young people, policymakers, and youth representatives from across Europe, demonstrating how quality youth work empowers young people and ensures their voices are heard in decisions that affect their lives.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand and joined the conversation about building a future where youth work is accessible to all.

Busy day at Youth Work Ireland yesterday as more than 30 young people from member services met with European Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture and Sport Glenn Micallef. The young people were taking part in a workshop to reflect on their involvement in the Youth Work for All campaign and discuss what happens next. They also shared their experiences of youth work with the Commissioner and spoke about why they feel every young person should have access to youth work in their community. Commissioner Micallef spoke about the value of safe youth spaces and stressed the need for youth work to be recognised and included in future EU Youth Strategies.

It’s time for Nollaig, Youth Work Ireland’s annual Christmas Card Competition! ✨

Show us your creativity, imagination and festive spirit for the chance to have your artwork celebrated as part of Youth Work Ireland’s Christmas tradition. ❤️🎅

🌟 Here’s what you need to know:
🎨 Age categories: 5–9 years | 10–14 years | 15–18 years
🖍️ Artwork: Use a full A4 sheet of white paper. Please don’t fold it.
🎭 Get creative: Pen and ink, crayon, pastels, pencil and paint are all welcome.
📋 Entry form: All entries MUST include a completed entry form.
👥 Who can enter: Young people must be affiliated with a Youth Work Ireland Local Youth Service.
📅 Closing date: 13 November 2026
📌 Age categories are based on the young person’s age on 13th November 2026.
