Since 2017, the equivalent of over 185,000,000 AA batteries have been recycled thanks to the Batteries for Barretstown campaign – enough to circle the island of Ireland three times.

Our partnership with Barretstown is incredibly important to everyone here at ERP Ireland, and we are very proud to support the life-changing work they do.

As Barretstown roll out their wonderful camps for families and children this summer, we are delighted to support campers with our ‘Power Positivity’ water bottles and wish them every success.

Lithium is one of the key materials found inside many batteries.

When batteries are recycled correctly, valuable materials like lithium can be recovered and reused - supporting more sustainable use of resources and the circular economy.

When batteries are thrown in the bin, that value is lost, and incorrectly disposed batteries can cause fires at waste management facilities.

Recycle your batteries for free at your local supermarket or recycling centre.

The sun’s finally out again! Which means garden season is back and we’re all rediscovering what’s been hiding in the shed all winter 👀

Old drills, tangled cables, dead batteries, broken gadgets — most of us hang onto them for far longer than we should.

The good news? If it has a plug, cable or battery, it can be recycled ♻️

Watch the video to find out what to do with them.

Batteries contain a mix of components, many of which can be recovered and reused when recycled correctly.

That’s why keeping them out of general waste matters.

Recycle your batteries at your local supermarket or recycling centre.

🔌 EU Common Charger Rules Now Apply to Laptops

From today, all new laptops sold in the European Union must support USB‑C charging, marking another milestone in the EU’s Common Charger Directive.

The rules already apply to devices such as mobile phones, tablets, cameras, headphones and portable speakers, with laptop manufacturers given additional lead‑in time to allow for redesign and transition.

The aim is simple but impactful:
💻 Fewer chargers, less clutter
📲 Consistent charging speeds across compatible devices
♻️ Reduced environmental impact

The EU estimates that discarded and unused chargers account for around 11,000 tonnes of e‑waste every year.

🎥 Watch our Cable Chaos video from the Don’t Waste a Day! campaign and ask yourself:
How many unused cables are hidden away in your home right now?

It might look simple on the outside, but batteries contain materials like steel that can be recovered and reused.

When recycled properly, those materials go back into use instead of being lost in general waste.

Recycle your batteries at your local supermarket or recycling centre.
