The Cat And Dog Protection Association Of Ireland CDPA is a NO-KILL rescue and run by volunteers. Our main programmes include TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) and rehoming. www.cdpa.ie/how-you-can-help/donate/

CDPA are a registered charity since 1988 and became a limited company in 1989, originally known as the Feline Club since 1946. Our affiliation with the ISPCA enables us to broaden our work and ensure that we can care for as many cats and dogs as we can. The Cat and Dog Protection Association of Ireland has four main objectives

(i) Our mission is to promote, provide for and improve the welfare of

cats and dogs through education, intervention, and rehabilitation. (ii) To prevent cruelty to all animals. (iii) To reduce the number of stray and unwanted cats, kittens, and other animals by advocating and encouraging spaying and neutering of healthy adult animals to prevent unwanted young being born. (iv) To provide education regarding, and to improve people's understanding of cats and proper care of cats and other animals amongst the public in general, and the young in particular.

Meet Little Miss – She’s a playful kitty looking for her forever family!

Little Miss is a 2-month-old calico kitty. She is a very happy kitty and absolutely loves to play! She has lots of energy and is extremely talkative. She will chat with you about anything and everything. She loves to play with her mouse and feather toys. She’ll run and pounce and show off her hunting skills. Her wiggle pounce maneuver is especially impressive!

She is very good at scratching on the cat tree, she likes to keep her nails nice and manicured. She would really appreciate having a cat tree in her new home. When she wants attention, she will let you know by chatting nonstop. She can be a little shy around people sometimes. But if you pick her up and put her beside you on the sofa, as long as you give her lots of pets (including on her belly) she will stay put and chill with you for a bit. She does love people, she’s just a bit shy at times.

Meet Figaro – Just a friendly kitty looking for his forever home!

Figaro is estimated to be at least 2 years old, but he could be as old as 4 years. He is a very big cat, weighing in at 6kg, but he isn’t overweight, he is just a big cuddly bear! He absolutely loves people! He is extremely talkative, except not just with meows, he communicates a lot with eye contact and body language! A lot of the time, he will open his mouth to meow, but no sound comes out. He might play a bit, he does like feather toys, but most of all, he just wants to cuddle! He is very much a cuddly kitty.

He is a massive fan of wet food, and he also likes to maintain his claws by scratching on a cat tree. When he isn’t in the mood of attention, he will let you know by taking a step back, this is him letting you know he wants his own space for a bit. He is a very calm cat. He would be great in a family with children who can notice this and respect his wishes. In saying that, he does like a lot of affection as he is just so friendly.

Meet Dame Missy – She wants all your cuddles!

Dame Missy is an outgoing 4-year-old grey tabby. She likes to greet visitors of the house, she is very much a social butterfly.

She is super playful and loves to zoom around, having the best fun. These zoomies work up a good appetite, and her favorite food is dry food. She is very unsure about wet food.

Another past time she enjoys is bird watching out the window. She is a very confident and curious cat, she is also calm and likes to chat. She likes to climb too, and so a cat tree would be great for her to climb up high and survey the surroundings.

She can be independent and does enjoy her alone time. But she will also let you know when she wants some attention, and she does love attention! She isn’t too fond of being held though, and so will let you know when time is up on that. But she absolutely loves to snuggle up for some cuddles!

We are beyond grateful to Imelda and Ann for organising ‘LoveCats’ at the Grand Social – a night dedicated to raising funding and awareness about the Cat and Dog Protection Association of Ireland through the medium of dance and music.

It was such a special night, a wonderful success and thanks to everyone who bought tickets, donated and participated in the evening, a magnificent €1,270 was raised for CDPA!

The instigator of the event was a small black kitty. Sasha wandered into Ann and Imelda’s garden, thin, terrified and feral. Ann very kindly shared her story

‘We rescued Sasha from the wild back in July 2025. 🐈‍⬛

When we took her in, she was in very poor health. She was underweight and extremely timid. For the first few weeks, she would hide behind the couch - terrified of everyone and everything. Every noise would spook her, and even looking at her would make her run and hide away in fear. Not only that, but her teeth were in terrible condition, which caused her a lot of discomfort - especially when she was trying to eat. We wanted to give her another chance at life - an opportunity to know what a loving home is like. We were willing to do whatever was needed to help her heal and thrive. That's where the CDPA came to the rescue. 💜

Here we are in 2026 and she is a completely different cat! Thanks to the CDPA, she is in the best health. She is very affectionate, always wanting attention, and she loves to cuddle. It has been incredible to see her personality shine through and watch her become the happy, healthy and loving cat that she was always meant to be.

Sasha needed extensive dental work done, plus spaying. The CDPA were absolutely amazing throughout the entire process. We are incredibly grateful to them for helping us with Sasha.’

Little did we know that us helping would result in such a heartwarming and special fundraiser. Never did we think we would see our logo on stage behind a DJ! And now because we helped Sasha, we have money to help towards our 101 foster cats and dogs, as well as many more cats needing rescuing and neutering all over Ireland.

Its not easy knowing what to do when you come across an animal suffering, it’s harder still when expensive vet work limits what a person can afford to do – but the important thing to remember is that by working together we can help them.

Thank you again to Imelda and Ann, to the team at the Grand Social and to everyone who shared and supported this fundraiser. We will always look back on this event with great fondness.

Meet Prince, our very charming boy!

Prince is a sweet, calm, and affectionate cat, searching for his happy ending.

Prince has so much charm that it’s impossible not to fall in love with him. He’s sweet, calm, and very affectionate. He simply loves having his head and ears scratched and will let you know when it’s time for pets by snuggling up against you and purring. His temperament is just lovely.

Prince is definitely a bit of a night owl. He’ll often spend the day snoozing under the sofa, emerging in the evenings full of energy and ready to play.

Prince is very calm, so we’re confident that he could be happy in a home that already has a cat, as he seems curious about making friends. A home with older children would also be fine, though perhaps not younger children, as he’s not overly fond of being picked up and prefers to play more gently. He’s skittish around sudden sounds in a new environment and will need a patient human who will help him settle at his own pace as he gets used to his new home — he is slow to explore.

Prince is such an adorable cat and would be a wonderful friend to a kind, patient person. Could you be the person to make his dreams come true?

Meet Erykat – The chatty kitty looking for a forever home filled with treats & pets!

Erykat is a white cat with black spots and markings. She is 11 months old, born in September 2025. Erykat is a bit nervous, especially if there are unexpected loud noises. But she is also so brave and really tries to not let her nerves control her. She really needs a patient pawrent who can offer her a nice, calm & quiet forever home. Don’t worry though, once she settles into her new home, she is sure to show you how awesome she is & you’ll fall in love with her cute quirks!

Some of her favorite things in the world are treats! She loves the creamy kind, the stick kind, and also, she can show you her balancing skills by standing on her back legs with her front paws together begging for Dreamies! She has many talents! She also loves to get pets, she will ask you for them when she wants them, it’ll happen a lot. She purrs so loudly, especially if you scratch behind her ears!

Another thing she loves is watching out the window. She will keep you up to date with all the neighborhood goings on. She just loves to chat about everything she sees, so she’d really love if her new pawrents listened and kept her company! Maybe she could exchange gossip for treats and pets?

Meet Carlos – The cat who has a perfect balance of independence and affectionateness.

Carlos is a 5-year-old male cat who is looking for a home where he can be indoors with safe access to the outside world. He would also love some windowsills so he can observe the outside when he wants to.

He loves his freedom and independence but also, he loves human company and isn’t shy around strangers. He promises to safely stand guard for you while you go bathroom, he takes his bodyguard roll very seriously. He loves to roam around the house, day & night, doing security checks. When he finds a cozy spot, he will of course take a snooze. Give him time and he’ll have the best spots picked for his cat naps.

He loves to play and would really appreciate some toys, he especially loves to chase the mouse toys around. Having a scratching post for him will be very beneficial, he likes to keep his claws maintained. He absolutely loves chicken slices and also loves jelly wet food in beef or poultry flavors. He is not a fan of tuna.

Carlos would make a great addition to a family who wants an affectionate kitty. He is just a super chill and easy-going cat. He feels more secure when his humans are nearby and would love to just keep you company.

He is patiently waiting for you to get in touch and ask about him.

Meet Carlos – The playful little cuddle bug!

Carlos is a 4-month-old kitty. He is such a sweet and affectionate cutie. He is an absolute cuddle bug who will curl up on your lap for snoozes or sleep in your arms. He has the loudest purrs and loves getting little kisses on his head. He might be a little shy at first, but he will soon settle in, and you’ll see how sweet he is.

He is a great eater and is super cute when he drinks from his bowl because he hasn’t figured out that he doesn’t need to step into the bowl to get a drink. He is very gentle and will softly pat you with his paws before giving you head bumps.

He would love a forever home where he can have lots of playtime and affection. He would also love a kitty sibling to play with. He’d prefer to be an indoor cat. He has been described as an absolute dream cat. Most of all, he’d love to be your new best friend!
