The Cat And Dog Protection Association Of Ireland CDPA is a NO-KILL rescue and run by volunteers. Our main programmes include TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) and rehoming. www.cdpa.ie/how-you-can-help/donate/

CDPA are a registered charity since 1988 and became a limited company in 1989, originally known as the Feline Club since 1946. Our affiliation with the ISPCA enables us to broaden our work and ensure that we can care for as many cats and dogs as we can. The Cat and Dog Protection Association of Ireland has four main objectives

(i) Our mission is to promote, provide for and improve the welfare of cats and dogs through education, intervention, and rehabilitation. (ii) To prevent cruelty to all animals. (iii) To reduce the number of stray and unwanted cats, kittens, and other animals by advocating and encouraging spaying and neutering of healthy adult animals to prevent unwanted young being born. (iv) To provide education regarding, and to improve people's understanding of cats and proper care of cats and other animals amongst the public in general, and the young in particular.

🏅 A FANTASTIC ACHIEVEMENT FOR JENNIE! 🐾

A huge congratulations to Jennie, who completed the Fastlane Half Marathon on 3rd October, raising funds for CDPA in memory of our very own Ziggy.

Jennie completed an impressive 21.01 km in 2 hours and 14 minutes, achieving her fastest-ever 20 km along the way! 👏

Jennie chose to honour Ziggy's memory by helping other cats and dogs in need, and we're incredibly grateful for the time, effort and determination she's put into this fundraiser.

And there's still time to support her!

Odin's rescue story ❤️‍🩹 - Small in size, mighty in spirit, and ready for his happily ever after.

Just two weeks ago, Odin was fighting for his life on the side of a road, dodging traffic and desperately hoping someone would notice him. Thankfully, one very kind member of the public did just that.

The moment she stopped, Odin began to cry and followed her, as if he knew she was his chance at safety. She scooped him up, brought him home, and offered him food, only to discover just how desperately hungry and unwell this little boy was. On closer examination, she also realised he was missing one eye.

She reached out to CDPA for help, and the very next day, we were able to bring Odin into emergency foster care. ❤️

A veterinary examination revealed that Odin had been through more than we initially realised. He was underweight, suffering from an upper respiratory infection, and had a ruptured eardrum. Alongside his missing eye, this little kitten had a lot to overcome.

✨ Fast-forward just two weeks, and look at him now!

With medication, good-quality food, warmth, and plenty of love, Odin is doing amazingly well. His journey isn't quite over yet, though. His gums are still a little inflamed and will need monitoring, and his missing eye will need to be kept clean and checked regularly. Thankfully, the vet believes no further treatment for his eye is needed at this time.

Odin may need a little extra care, but that doesn't make him any less deserving of a wonderful life. In fact, we think it makes him all the more special. 🖤

We know that sometimes, kittens with medical needs can be overlooked in favour of those who seem a little easier. But please don't let Odin's missing eye put you off. He deserves someone who will see past it and recognise the beautiful, resilient little soul looking back at them.

What kind of home does Odin need?
🏡 An indoor-only home where he will be safe and protected.
🐈 A friendly feline companion would be wonderful for him.
❤️ A patient, loving adopter who is happy to continue monitoring his health.

🙏 Help us pay for Zucko's dental! 🙏

We are asking for help with covering the vet bill for little Zucko's teeth extractions: https://gofund.me/52e594b21

Little Zucko was found straying Bray by a local who quickly noticed that this boy was struggling to eat. While his finder was eager to help Zucko - he was unable to afford the vet costs. He contacted CDPA for help and after discussing with our vet - we agreed to go ahead and try to raise the money by fundraiser.

Zucko was brought to the vet noticed his teeth were broken with one of the canines completely dead and there was pulp exposed on the other one which would have been very painful.

We booked Zucko in for the dental along with neutering and a spot on treatment for his fleas.

Thankfully the wonder vets were able to remove all three of the broken canines and x-rayed his mouth to check that all of the tooth was fully removed to ensure he would not be in any more pain.

We were glad to hear that the rest of his teeth were really healthy however we suspect that the fracturing of the canines was possibly caused by trauma. Who knows how long this boy has been suffering?

We were surprised to hear that despite a very prominent scrotom this boy was already neutered! So at some stage we suspect he had a home and now he has found a wonderful new home with his finder.

Zucko has recovered well, is receiving the royal treatment able to enjoy eating his meals again! We are really grateful to his finder for doing so much to help Zucko and to the wonderful vets at Village Vets Bray for their compassion and brilliant work!

🌶️ Pepper — The Light Bulb Has Officially Come On! 💡🐾

Remember when Pepper thought humans were best admired from a safe distance?

Well… someone has had a light bulb moment! 😂💡

Pepper has suddenly discovered that perhaps humans aren't so bad after all. In fact, it turns out they come with cuddles, treats and chin rubs… and Pepper is very much starting to think, “Sign me up!” 😻

This gorgeous boy is still a little wary of his surroundings and can be easily spooked, but we're beginning to see the incredible potential hiding underneath that cautious exterior.

He's even decided his foster dad might be okay after all and is now accepting pets from him — although he's still a little unsure about men. His foster mum, however? Completely smitten. ❤️ Pepper has absolutely fallen in love with her.

He's going to need a quiet, understanding adult-only, indoor-only home where he can continue building his confidence at his own pace. No pressure, no expectations — just patience, kindness and lots of opportunities to discover that being loved is actually rather lovely.

Pepper would also love a feline friend to play with and keep him company. Having another friendly, confident cat around could be just what he needs to help him continue coming out of his shell. 🐱💕

He may have started life thinking humans were suspicious, but Pepper is now beginning to realise that cuddles + treats + ear scratches = pretty good deal.

And honestly? We think this little spicy boy is going to make someone very, very happy. 🌶️❤️

Meet Luna – The kitty who needs a 2nd chance.

Luna is a 5-year-old, beautiful white cat with black patches and tail. She has amazing intense eyes. As a kitten, Luna had gone through some terrible trauma, but she was adopted via the CDPA to lovely pawrents who gave her a lot of time and patience to settle in. Unfortunately, due to changes in their life and an expanded family, Luna has become very unhappy and unfortunately she really needs a new forever home where she can be at ease without stress.

She needs very patient and calm pawrents who will give her space and time to settle. A quiet and calm environment is a definite must. This does sound like a lot to ask, but Luna really needs these through no fault of her own. She will take her time to settle and bond but once her trust has been gained, she will show a very sweet side with lots of affection. She may not be a cuddly kitty, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t show her love. Once she trusts you, she’ll accept head pets and would love to show you her best moves in chasing toys on the string. Playing hide and seek with the string toys is her favorite game, and it’s definitely a multi-player game. She likes to be brushed, but she will let you know when she has had enough.

She loves her dry food, especially the Royal Canin brand and also some Purnia wet food in the gravy variety, not so much the jelly kind though. She likes to drink her water and get special treats of cooked chicken. She also really likes catnip, so maybe dose her toys with some of that to make her feel happy and welcome.

👧 Rule #2: Older kids are welcome – after all, every kingdom needs loyal subjects!

❤️ Rule #3: Your lap belongs to me. Your chest belongs to me. Basically, if you're sitting or lying down, expect me to be glued to you.

🚶 Rule #4: Don't be surprised if I follow you everywhere. I just like being with my people.

😭 Tansy & Zazzy are STILL waiting… and we honestly can’t understand why!

These adorable, gentle and playful sisters are 5 months old and yet they’ve had no adoption interest. 💔 Black and white cats are sooo often overlooked, and these girls really don’t deserve to be waiting for someone to notice them.

Their brother Domino is doing amazingly in his forever home, and we just know Tansy and Zazzy would bring that same love, joy and mischief to their own families. 🥹🖤🤍

✨ Zazzy is the confident little lovebug of the pair. She adores attention and will happily keep headbutting your hand for more fuss. She’s affectionate, playful and incredibly easy to fall in love with.

🌼 Tansy can be a little shy when you first meet her, but give her a little time and patience and she absolutely blossoms. Once she feels comfortable, her lovely personality shines through and she becomes a proper little snuggle bug who loves affection.

🖤 Batty is also really coming out of her shell. She just needs her own patient human who will give her the time, space and reassurance she needs to feel safe. We know that with the right person, she’ll absolutely flourish and show them what a special girl she is. 🥹

These girls are so much more than their markings. They’re loving, playful little personalities who are simply being overlooked because they’re black and white. 😭🖤🤍

They can be adopted together or separately. If adopted separately, we’d ideally like each girl to have a friendly resident cat for company, as they’re young, sociable and love feline friends.

They’re looking for an indoor-only home, are used to dogs, and can happily live with children who understand how to be gentle and respectful with cats.

Please don’t let these beautiful girls grow up waiting for someone to choose them. They deserve their forever homes just as much as any other cat. ❤️
