CDPA are a registered charity since 1988 and became a limited company in 1989, originally known as the Feline Club since 1946. Our affiliation with the ISPCA enables us to broaden our work and ensure that we can care for as many cats and dogs as we can. The Cat and Dog Protection Association of Ireland has four main objectives

(i) Our mission is to promote, provide for and improve the welfare of

cats and dogs through education, intervention, and rehabilitation. (ii) To prevent cruelty to all animals. (iii) To reduce the number of stray and unwanted cats, kittens, and other animals by advocating and encouraging spaying and neutering of healthy adult animals to prevent unwanted young being born. (iv) To provide education regarding, and to improve people's understanding of cats and proper care of cats and other animals amongst the public in general, and the young in particular.

A special rehoming appeal for a bonded trio 🐈 🐈 🐈

Meet Bibi (2 y/o female), Thomas (2y/o male tabby) and Coal (6y/o)

Complementing each other, Thomas is outgoing, affectionate, confident and very friendly. Bibi, although slightly more reserved, is very friendly when she gets to know someone. Coal is the shyest of the three and will need a bit more time to come around 🐾 🐾 🐾

These country cats sadly had their owner pass away and are now being feed by 2 kind carers. They are looking for a new permenant place to call home together.

Ideal home 🏑
- indoor/outdoor access
- patient relocation

🐾 Willow is still looking for a foster home... 🐾

A few days ago we introduced Willow, a lovely 3-year-old lurcher who urgently needs a foster home due to a change in her owner's circumstances.

Unfortunately, despite lots of shares, Willow is still waiting for someone to come forward.

Willow is currently staying with family, but this can only be for a short time, so we are continuing our search for a safe and loving foster home while we work on finding her forever home.

Over the last few weeks, Willow has proven herself to be a fantastic dog. She is affectionate, friendly, enjoys her walks and loves being around people. She is house trained, walks beautifully on the lead and settles well in the home.

A few things about Willow:

🐾 3 years old
🐾 Fully vaccinated
🐾 House trained
🐾 Friendly with people, children and other dogs
🐾 Excellent on the lead
🐾 Quiet and easy-going around the home
🐾 No known health issues

Please note: Willow cannot live with cats or small animals.

If you think you could offer Willow a foster home, please send us an email at [email protected]

Please keep sharing. We know the right foster home is out there somewhere; they just haven't seen Willow's post yet. ❀️

🚨 WARNING: Dog Adoption Scams Are Increasing 🚨

Today we received a call from a member of the public who had been offered a puppy through a page claiming to be linked to our rescue.

Thankfully, before sending any money, she contacted us directly to check whether the page was genuine and the offered dog was really in our care.

It wasn't.

These fake pages often use photos of adorable puppies, claim to be rescue organisations, and then ask for deposits, transport fees, or adoption payments before you have even met the dog.

Please remember:

❌ CDPA will never ask for payment simply to reserve a dog you've never met.

❌ We do not operate through multiple pages.

❌ We do not arrange adoptions through private messages.

βœ… Always verify that you are dealing with an official rescue page.

βœ… Speak directly with the rescue organisation if you are unsure.

βœ… Never send money because someone is pressuring you to act quickly.

If something feels wrong, trust your instincts and contact the rescue directly.

Today's caller trusted her gut and avoided losing money. We are very grateful she took the time to check first.

Please share this post to help protect others from these scams.

We recently welcomed a mammy cat and her 3 babies into foster care, just one group of many πŸ§‘πŸ€πŸ–€

They are from a location we help regularly as there are many stray cats appearing endlessly and we are trying to manage the colony through TNR πŸ˜ͺ

She was looking after them in the feeders garden on an old gaming chair. This would have been quite a vulnerable spot for the babies so we are relieved the little family is safe now and this will be mammies last litter.

Please consider fostering, donating or sharing our pleas for foster homes 🏑

The reality of cats giving birth to kittens outside is horrific. When people ignore the importance of neutering it must be because they physically don't see the suffering.

A young mammy cat wasn't ready to be a mam. She wasn't able to look after her babies and despite rescuers best efforts, the last of a litter of three passed away in the fosterers arms earlier this week.

We are so sorry Ligia, and sorry to any rescuer and foster who has to watch the constant pain, sickness, and suffering of cats that usually goes unnoticed.

Please don't ignore a stray or community cat in need, be that person that makes the choice - reach out to a local rescue for advice or subsidized neutering to end their suffering 🌈 πŸ’”

🐾 Enzo is still looking for his people... 🐾

Enzo is a 2-year-old French Bulldog with a huge personality and absolutely no shortage of opinions.

He loves attention, loves being involved in whatever you're doing and is happiest when he's with his people. Like many Frenchies, he can be stubborn and likes things his own way, so he'll need someone who is willing to be consistent and not let him rule the house.

We're looking for an adult-only home for Enzo where he can be the only pet. He enjoys having all the attention to himself and that's how he is happiest.

Enzo isn't a dog that will suit everyone, but for the right person he will be a brilliant little companion with plenty of character and lots of love to give.

βœ… 2 years old
βœ… Neutered
βœ… Vaccinated
βœ… Microchipped
🚫 No children
🚫 No other dogs or animals

If you think Enzo could be the right fit for your home, send us a message with a little information about yourself.
