Gaisce - The President's Award

Gaisce - The President's Award Gaisce is Ireland’s national self-development programme for young people between 14-25. Dream big! There are three levels of Gaisce – Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Gaisce – The President’s Award is a self-development programme for young people which enhances confidence and wellbeing through participation in personal, physical and community challenges. Gaisce is a direct challenge from the President of Ireland to young people aged 15-25 to dream big and realise their potential. Gaisce is non-competitive, participants are encouraged to choose their own activit

ies and goals with the support of a trained, adult President’s Award Leader (or PAL). The Gaisce programme is delivered by over 1,500 PALs working and volunteering in a variety of organisations across Ireland. The more time and energy participants give, the greater their reward.

His journey is a great example of the different ways young people can get involved, contribute to their communities and gain experiences along the way.

Looking back on July, we’re reflecting on an inspiring opportunity for three Gaisce participants who attended the Listening to Children and Young People – Challenges in Challenging Settings conference in Dublin Castle. 💙

Bringing together young people, policymakers and practitioners from across Europe, the conference created space for meaningful conversations about the importance of listening to and learning from young people’s experiences.

For our participants, it was a chance to share perspectives, hear from others, and be part of discussions that can help shape the future for young people across Europe.

As we reflect on the experience, we’re reminded why youth voice matters. When young people are given the opportunity to contribute, their ideas, experiences and insights can have a real impact.

Three incredible Gaisce participants, one important conversation. 💙✨

Today, our participants Swasti, Rónán and Isabel attended the Listening to Children and Young People - Challenges in Challenging Settings conference in Dublin Castle OPW, joining young people from across Europe to share ideas and champion the importance of youth participation.

At Gaisce, we’re passionate about empowering young people to have their voices heard, and we’re so proud to see our participants representing our community on such an inspiring platform.

They come from stepping outside your comfort zone, trying something new, giving back to your community, and challenging yourself to grow.

Through Gaisce, young people develop more than skills and experiences - they learn lessons that can stay with them for life.
