The Ireland Japan Association was founded in 1990 to promote greater business and cultural ties between Ireland and Japan.

The Ireland Japan Association promotes and fosters mutual understanding between the peoples of both countries, and in particular to encourage and assist a knowledge of the culture of each country within the other.

Join us for a unique Kintsugi experience with Azumi Uchitani (Azumi Uchitani Art), author, educator, artist and IJA Council member, and discover the deeper philosophy of Kintsugi as explored in her book YOSHUKU. ✨🇯🇵

Through a mindful session exploring healing, manifestation and personal transformation, you will have the opportunity to reflect on this beautiful philosophy before trying your hand at Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with gold.

Congratulations to the Dillon Eustace LLP team, winners of the IJA Ishikawa Cup 2026! 🏆⛳

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us on Friday, 18 September, for this year’s IJA Annual Golf Outing at Foxrock Golf Club. It was wonderful to bring together IJA members, friends and guests for a fantastic day of golf and celebrations.

Congratulations also to NTT DATA, Inc. Team 1, who took 2nd place, and NTT DATA, Inc. Team 2, who finished in 3rd place. Special prizes were also awarded for the Longest Drive and Nearest the Pin.

We were delighted to welcome Koji Hirohata, Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Japan in Ireland, who joined us for the celebrations and congratulated all participants on their participation in the tournament.

We gratefully acknowledge this year’s tournament prize sponsors - the IJA Council, Azumi Uchitani Art and Yamamori Dining - for their generous support and wonderful prizes.

We are also very grateful to our wonderful hosts at Foxrock Golf Club for their warm hospitality and for helping to make the day such a success.

A special mention goes to our IJA event team, Raymond, Catherine and Neil, as well as our volunteer, Carolina, for all their help in bringing the event together.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our IJA Conversation Groups Summer Meetup on 22nd August in Dublin! It was such a pleasure to meet so many of you in person and enjoy all the wonderful conversations together. 😍✨

This time, we talked about our favourite foods, home cooking, recipes and restaurants, shared cooking ideas and recommendations, and exchanged stories about our favourite dining experiences.

The IJA Japanese Conversation Group will resume its online Zoom meetings next month, with the first session taking place on Tuesday, 8th September.

And we’re already looking forward to seeing everyone again at our next in-person meetup on Saturday, 21st November!

A huge thanks to our Council members, Azumi Uchitani Art and Yuka Nagano, for organising this event, as well as to the wonderful hosts at The Commons at MoLI / Museum of Literature Ireland for their warm hospitality.

On 31 July, members of the IJA Council were honoured to attend the official presentation ceremony for the Foreign Minister’s Commendation at the residence of the Ambassador of Japan to Ireland. 🇯🇵🇮🇪

The commendation, awarded to the IJA in 2025, was formally presented to IJA Chairperson Raymond Hegarty, followed by speeches from H.E. Mr Manabu Miyagawa, Ambassador of Japan to Ireland, and Raymond Hegarty.

It is a great honour for the IJA to receive this prestigious recognition, acknowledging the Association’s longstanding work in supporting economic cooperation and trade links between Ireland and Japan, alongside our cultural, educational and community programmes.

The IJA Council is grateful for this recognition and looks forward to continuing our work to strengthen the connections between Ireland and Japan, particularly as we look ahead to the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2027.

Our sincere thanks to the Embassy of Japan in Ireland for this honour and for its continued support and partnership throughout the years.

Join Dr Kamila Kwasniewska for the End of Summer Nature Connection Workshop, a unique experience combining forest bathing and Ikebana, the Japanese art of floral arranging, in the beautiful surroundings of the Trinity College Botanic Gardens, Dublin.

Looking to practise your Japanese or English, meet new people, and enjoy a relaxed afternoon with the Ireland-Japan community? We would love to welcome you to our Summer Japanese & English Conversation Group Meetup in Dublin! 🇮🇪☀️🇯🇵

Our summer meetup theme will be 'Foods & Dining – 食事 (Shokuji)', and we will be chatting about our favourite foods, home cooking, recipes, restaurants, and dining experiences. Feel free to bring along your favourite recipe or story to share!

What a wonderful way to begin the month of July! 🇮🇪🌸🇯🇵 The Ireland Japan Association was delighted to host two Origami Workshops for families together with our friends at Pearse Street Library, Dublin. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us!

Led by our fantastic and talented origami teacher, Akiko Kidokoro, children enjoyed discovering Japanese culture and traditions through the beautiful art of origami, learning new folding techniques and creating colourful paper shapes and objects.

Our thanks go to Akiko san for her wonderful presentation, and to the staff at Pearse Street Library for being such welcoming hosts and helping to make the day such a success. A special thank you also goes to Maria Mardiki, IJA Council, for all of her support in helping bring this wonderful community event to life.

We look forward to welcoming you to another IJA event soon! ❤
