Scouting Ireland is dedicated to the development of life skills for young people. Community Guidelines

We are dedicated to maintaining a respectful online community that engages in discussions about Scouting. Please keep the following in mind when writing comments. Respect Others - Please be polite to all the members of our community, including other commen

ters, authors and the subjects of content. Keep in mind that there are real people reading your comments. Safe Space - Above all, Scouting Ireland should be a safe and welcoming space for all individuals, groups and their ideas. Any rudeness, insults, hate, hostility, or negativity may be removed, and you may lose your ability to comment. Moderation - In order to provide a safe space for our community, comments may be moderated and users may be banned. If your comments make this community a less civil and enjoyable place to be, you and your comments may be excluded from it. Everyone is welcome to voice their opinion regardless of identity, politics, ideology, religion or agreement with other community members, the author of the post or staff members, as long as those opinions are respectful and constructively add to the conversation. This community does not tolerate direct or indirect attacks, name-calling or insults, nor does it tolerate intentional attempts to derail, hijack, troll or bait others into an emotional response. We reserve the right to remove these types of comments where warranted. Individuals who consistently or intentionally post these types of comments may lose their ability to comment and be permanently excluded from the community. If you directly or indirectly threaten the physical or mental well-being of a member of this community, or an individual or group, you may be removed immediately. If a user has repeatedly posted comments that have violated our rules, their comments may be blocked from appearing on the site. This would include inappropriate comments that contain insults, attacks, abuse towards other users or groups; or users who have engaged in trolling or hijacking the comment threads. Last Saturday, we officially presented our Strategic Plan 2026–2029, setting out our vision for the future of Scouting Ireland.

The plan focuses on empowering young people, strengthening communities, supporting volunteers, and growing Scouting nationwide, while creating safe, inclusive and youth-led spaces where young people can develop skills for life, leadership and active citizenship.

A sincere thank you to the Strategy Working Group, and especially our youth members, for their outstanding contribution and commitment throughout the process.

Our Strategy 2026–2029 is now live! ⚜️🎉

'Building Tomorrow’s Scouting Today' sets out our vision to empower more young people across Ireland through leadership, wellbeing, adventure and active citizenship.

This National Volunteer Week, we recognise the 10,000 volunteers who make Scouting Ireland what it is.

Volunteering is often described as giving your time, but it’s really about building something far bigger than yourself. Every week, our volunteers create spaces where young people can grow in confidence.

But Scouting also shapes the people who volunteer. Through supporting others, taking responsibility and working as part of a team, volunteers develop leadership skills, confidence, resilience and perspectives that carry into every part of their lives.
In Scouting, leadership and volunteering grow side by side.

To all our volunteers: thank you. The impact you have reaches far beyond the hours you give.

The National Youth Council of Ireland, together with the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment, is calling for applications for one young person living on the island of Ireland aged between 18-25 years to be part of Ireland’s National Climate Delegation in 2026 to 2028! 📣

The role offers the chance to learn more about climate policy, take part in national and international discussions, meet other young climate leaders, and help bring young people’s ideas into Ireland’s climate work.

The deadline for applications is Monday, 25 May 2026 at 12 noon.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade & NYCI have partnered to provide for Irish participation in the UN Youth Delegate Programme.
