Blanchardstown is a linear village, bounded by the Royal Canal at it's southern end, the Tolka river to the east the "new" Garda station to the north, and Roselawn and other housing estates to the west. We meet at 10am every Saturday in the carpark of Cro

sscare on the Main Street. All are welcome as volunteers to assist with planting, weeding, litter picking and general maintenance of the village environs. From April we also meet every Wednesday at 7pm in the same venue. Other themes of our work include promoting biodiversity in our green spaces, promoting heritage and preserving the village as a conservation area (particularly around St Brigid's church and Church Avenue), active travel via our walks and trails, collaborating with local schools and community groups and generally improving the environment for residents, businesses and visitors. We are mostly funded by grants and donations. We apply funding for from Tidy Towns Ireland and Fingal Council, and look for donations from companies and members of the public. Working closely with Fingal Council, and this year. 2024, held a concert to celebrate St Brigid which was attended by over 200 people. Money raised was donated to the local hospice, St Francis Hospice, and Women's Aid. The work of the group is organised by a Tidy Towns committee, which is voted on every year at an AGM. The committee meets monthly to review operations and plan for the next few months. The committee has 4 Officers, A Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and PR person. And a variety of Working Groups are responsible for carrying out projects. (Operations, Planting, the Tidy Towns Annual Competition Report, Heritage, Digital Marketing and Biodiversity are the some of our working groups - there are lots of opportunities for volunteers to be involved!). This year we also acquired a polytunnel and a shed. Thank you for taking time to read about our village.

A brilliant turnout yesterday by our volunteers and committee members. Great team work all round and thank you for your efforts. We cleaned up along Mill Road and also a team worked on the Church grounds to clean up after some of the tree undergrowth was cleared opposite St. Brigid's NS. Huge thanks to Michelle who finished up her part of the mural at 12th Lock today. Michelle has worked with BVTT for almost three years and her work has brought joy to many passers by. Thank you Michelle. And also a very big thank you Team Myles O’Donoghue for hosting us afterwards at your premises and providing well earned refreshments. We were delighted to be joined today by a fantastic team of volunteers from CoverMore, who rolled up their sleeves and worked alongside us to help make a real difference in our community. It was a pleasure to have you with us, and we really appreciate the time and energy you gave.

A big shout-out as well to Taste of Provence for generously providing tea, coffee and delicious cakes for everyone involved. Your generosity was very much appreciated.

Special thanks to Pat for coordinating today's event and helping everything run so smoothly.

It was also great to welcome Sean back to the team. We're delighted to have you with us again!

Days like today show what can be achieved when people come together. Thank you to everyone who played a part. 💚

A huge thank you to everyone who came along today, including some fantastic new volunteers. It was great to have you with us.

A special thank you to the artists working on our mural. It's coming along beautifully.🎨👏

Unfortunately, just a short distance away, we came across rubble that had been dumped in one of our flower beds. The contrast couldn't be clearer – while so many people are giving their time and talent to improve our community, others are still choosing to damage it. Please help us keep Blanchardstown clean by disposing of waste responsibly.

The recent spell of hot weather also appears to have taken its toll. As you can see from the photos, part of the render on a wall along the Main Street has cracked and fallen away. Our volunteers managed to clean it up.

There was plenty of weeding, watering, litter picking and general maintenance carried out too, making it another productive morning.

If you can spare an hour or two, we'd love to have you join us. We meet every Saturday at 10.00am at Crosscare on the Main Street. Every pair of hands helps make a difference. 💚🌱

Community Spirit in Action! 🎨

Well done to the residents of Rushbrook who came together yesterday for a fantastic community tidy-up, litter pick, and oak tree preservation project. Initiatives like this show what can be achieved when neighbours work together to care for their local environment.

We're also delighted to highlight the progress being made on our community mural. A special thank you to our artists for the dedication, creativity, and countless hours they are investing in this project.

Together, projects like these help make our community cleaner, greener, brighter, and stronger.

Just five volunteers were out this morning working at Granard Bridge, but what a difference they made!

Today's focus was clearing overgrowth, removing weeds and built-up soil from the narrow pathways, and cutting back vegetation to make the area tidier, safer and more accessible for everyone who uses it.

The transformation achieved by such a small team is a testament to what can be accomplished when people give a little of their time for the community.

A sincere thank you to everyone who came along and helped today – your efforts are greatly appreciated. 👏

We'd love to see a few more faces joining us next week. Many hands really do make light work, and even an hour or two of your time can help make a visible difference in our community.

If you'd like to get involved, we meet every Saturday morning at 10am at Crosscare on Main Street, Blanchardstown. There's no obligation to attend every week – any help you can give is greatly appreciated.
