Thanks so much to Catherine Cleary for a wonderfully informative and relaxed event on Friday night at Fumbally Stables.

Catherine explained pocket forests planting philosophy and shared details of their new Forest8 project, which aims to plant native trees in 80 front gardens and develop vibrant pocket forests in shared community spaces across Dublin 8. 🌳✨

We covered a lot of ground, and we plan to post some more detailed notes on various topics on our WhatsApp over the next week or so, including:

🌱We debated the pitfalls and possibilities of front-garden planting, the value of using skips and planters in heavily paved areas, and the urgent need for serious de-paving to restore soil permeability.

⚖️ We touched on the implications of the EU Nature Restoration Bill (which mandates that the urban tree cover must be mapped and expanded) and disected DCC’s street tree replanting policies
