What a day.

On Sunday, we opened the doors of 17 Irish Landmark Trust properties across Ireland and welcomed over 3,800 visitors to see our work up close. Our House Managers were on hand throughout and it was such a pleasure sharing these buildings and the stories behind them with so many people.

This year's theme, Heritage at Risk, sits close to home for us. Our whole mission is to save, share and sustain at-risk heritage across Ireland and days like Sunday remind us exactly why that work matters.

Thank you to everyone who came. We hope you left with a little more appreciation for the buildings around you - and perhaps a booking in mind for next time.

***Galley Head Lighthouse Open Day****

We’re delighted to announce that our next lighthouse open day will take place on Sunday 6 September, from 12pm to 5pm, hosted by Galleyflash Rowing Club

Entry to the lighthouse grounds is free, while admission to the tower is €8 per person or €15 for two people. For safety reasons, entry to the tower is restricted to visitors aged 10 and over.

Parking will be available nearby, with a shuttle bus operating to and from the lighthouse.

Tea and coffee will be available throughout the afternoon, and Attendant Lightkeeper Gerald Butler will be giving his popular lighthouse talks, with times to be confirmed.

No pre-booking needed, just turn up!

We look forward to welcoming you to Galley Head for what promises to be a great afternoon!

This is a 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 offering a rare chance to peek inside a romantic 19th-century gatelodge. Nestled in a quiet rural setting, the lodge features a circular tower, Gothic windows, and a sense of storybook charm - a gem of Irish architectural heritage.

Managed by the Irish Landmark Trust, an educational charity dedicated to saving, sharing and sustaining Ireland’s built heritage, the site reflects how distinctive historic buildings—from lighthouses to schoolhouses and castles—can be carefully conserved and brought back into meaningful use.
