To wrap up this series of , we’re heading to Music Generation Westmeath. 🎙️

🎺 Members of the Athlone Youth Orchestra share what it really feels like to be part of an orchestra, the excitement, the pride and of course, the nerves!

There is nothing quite like the magic of being a part of something much bigger. When every instrument and section comes together, the sense of pride in creating that sound as a group is unforgettable. 🎻

The best part? You’re never on your own in an orchestra. Your section always has your back. 🙌 That support builds confidence and helps the young musicians face challenges like a last-minute key change or the fear of making a mistake on stage.

🎙️ is a storytelling series from Music Generation where young musicians share, in their own words, how music-making has shaped their lives. 🎬 These young creatives shaped every part of their story as interviewers, directors and storytellers.

This film completes our current series of three, which includes the voices of children and young people from Music Generation Limerick County and Music Generation Kilkenny.

🎉 We are excited to launch - a new storytelling series from Music Generation where young musicians share, in their own words, how music-making has shaped their lives.

🎼 In April we were delighted to present The Unconquerable Soul, a powerful new large-scale work by acclaimed Irish composer Rhona Clarke. Commissioned by Music Network in collaboration with Music Generation, the piece marks a special milestone, celebrating 40 years of Music Network and the long-standing relationship between our two organisations.

💫 Inspired by poetry reflecting hope as a constant force in human life, Clarke’s three-movement composition was brought to life by the internationally renowned Trio Bohémo, alongside Music Generation string ensembles and adult community choirs from Kerry and Louth.

👏 A special tribute to the young musicians who rose to the occasion for this ambitious project. They showed extraordinary commitment, putting in countless hours of rehearsal, and stepping up with professionalism and confidence to perform at such a high level. As Rhona Clarke reflected, our greatest hope lies in our young people, and this really was exemplified by these outstanding young performers.

🎵 Audiences were treated to two moving performances conducted by Amy Ryan, Conductor, on 15 April at St. Peter’s Church of Ireland in Drogheda with Setanta Choir and the Music Generation Louth Senior String Orchestra, and on 19 April at Siamsa Tíre in Tralee with Cór Seoda Tíre and the Music Generation Kerry String Ensemble.

🎉 Huge congratulations to everyone who took part in these two very special performances.

Since 2013, the programme has played a vital role in providing high-quality, accessible music education, helping children and young people build confidence, develop talent, and foster a lifelong love of music. 💛

The launch featured incredible performances from Music Generation Carlow’s very own ‘Reelig’ with rock & pop, choir, and wind & brass groups, coming together for some special collaborations.

Over the coming weeks, the exhibition space will be filled with live performances and workshops.
