ROD RACE UPDATE - WE NEED 2500 SUPPORTERS!
Good evening! I have never quite understood why so many of you are so keen to get me and the Duke back in the saddle but I promised last weekend that I would make a serious effort to get a new series of Rod Race made. I have spent the past few days doing just that.
🎣Many of you suggested that if the angling industry won’t fund the series (they won’t) and the tv industry will not put the money up (they won’t) that we should CROWD FUND.
MANY OF YOU WERE ADAMANT THAT CROWD FUNDING IS THE WAY TO GO AND I HAVE DECIDED THAT YOU ARE RIGHT.
🎣I have already appointed long-time follower of this page and ace volunteer Tom Balaam to handle the crowd funding page.
🎣I can also confirm the participation of the original Rod Race crew of myself, Mick and Jon Chappell (as main cameraman).
🎣The plan is to film 6 shows in September of this year. They will be individual challenges very similar to the 24 hour rod race concept. Venues from Scotland to Cornwall are currently in the plan. Please bear in mind that the Duke is 75 now and we have to make it enjoyable rather than a trial.
🤩Release of the series will be early 2025. Crowdfunding contributors will get to see the series before anyone else. After that it will either go out on a pay per view channel/app and after that it will be sold into broadcast.
🙌So it’s all down to whether enough of you will support the crowdfunder.
The basic package will be to watch the first episode or the first series in advance. There will be a whole series of other vip crowd fund options including meeting up with us when we film. More about that later. We may even auction some cameo role slots. We’ll see.
