There are versions of ourselves we only understand in hindsight.
The one who was exhausted.
The one who was afraid.
The one making decisions with whatever tools were available at the time.
The one who thought some moments would never end.
I used to look back at those versions of me with judgment.
Why did I stay?
Why did I do that?
Why couldn’t I see what I can see now?
Healing changed that.
If I could sit beside that version of myself now, I would not give him a lecture.
I would not tell him what he should have done differently.
I would just tell him:
You do not have to understand any of this yet.
Just keep going.
There is a life ahead of you that you cannot see from where you are standing.
And somehow, you make it there.
Everything you ever wanted—peace, serenity, a sense of purpose and meaning—it all comes true.
As crazy as that sounds.
As impossible as it is to believe.
It comes true.

Before you go to bed tonight, remember this: You’re gonna be okay. You’re gonna figure it out. Everything doesn’t have to make sense right now for it to still work out later. Your heart’s gonna get back right, your mind’s gonna get clearer and you’re gonna find what really fits you.

“One thing Mark would want me to do, is to help other people, and so this has to be highlighted as an issue with the HSE. What we need is an open, honest conversation. One of the big failings is sending people to the emergency room. Emergency departments are not capable; they’re not trained to deal with this sort of thing,” she said."

Sometimes we can be our own biggest critics. We can be so hard on ourselves that it feels like there's no way forward.

Take a look at a tree in winter. It loses all of its leaves, looks bare, and can even seem lifeless. But it's not dead. It's simply going through a season. It weathers the storms, stands strong through the cold, and when spring arrives, it begins to grow again stronger and more beautiful than before.

Life is much the same. We all go through difficult seasons. There will be days when life feels overwhelming, but those moments do not last forever. Keep going, even if it's one small step at a time. The storms will pass, and brighter days will come.

Be kind to yourself. Your story isn't over yet. 🌳💚

Please don't take your life today. It's ok not to be ok.
