🥋 Today our club proudly attended the USKF Open National Championships in Phibblestown, with all of our students representing the club brilliantly throughout the day! 👏
Leading by example, Philip Sensei was first up and showed the students exactly how it’s done, taking Gold 🥇 in Kata with excellent performances of Heian Yondan and Jiin 👏🔥
Our younger students Amelia (8) and Evin (9) were fantastic examples of the future of the club today 👏💪
Amelia gained valuable experience competing in Under 9s Kata, Kumite, and Sanbon Kumite — a brilliant effort on the mats! 🥋
Evin Joby put in a brilliant performance in Boys Kumite Under 9 years, narrowly missing out on a medal due to a referee’s decision. He also stepped up to perform an excellent Heian Shodan 👏
Isabella brought home Silver 🥈 in Girls Kumite 10–12 years and Bronze 🥉 in a fully stacked Kata bracket for 11–15 years — an outstanding achievement! 👏
Taylor Docherty-Hughes did brilliantly in Girls Kumite 13–15 years and Kata showing great determination and skill 👏
Seamus O'Callaghan had an incredible day, winning Gold 🥇 in Boys Kumite 13–15 years with a first-place performance, while also taking Silver 🥈 in Boys Kata — superb work! 👏
Eamon O'Callaghan delivered a stellar performance to earn Bronze 🥉 in Kata 16–17 years. In the same category, Xheims Qepi was unlucky to miss out just before the medal stages but showed tremendous heart and determination 💪
Speaking of heart, Alara Lynott took to the mats today in 16 years and over Kumite, showing fantastic spirit throughout, and also performed a lovely Heian Godan 👏🥋
A big mention as well to Eoghan Sensei, who helped coach throughout the day with multiple students competing at the same time — sometimes four or more at once! 👏 A video from today’s competition will be out later on today 🎥🥋
A massive congratulations to everyone who competed today. The club is now gearing up for the JKS Scotland National Championships on June 21st, and after today’s performances, we’re excited for what’s ahead! 🥋🔥
