At Dublin Book Festival, we love bringing school children together with some of Ireland’s best-loved children’s authors and illustrators. Last week, the amazing Jennifer Farley Illustration and Dave Rudden joined us in Pearse Street Library for a morning of inspiring and fun-filled events with local schools.

A room full of enthusiastic boys and girls from Catherine McAuley NS created fabulous adventure maps with Jennifer, bringing to life stories of faraway tropical islands with exploding volcanoes, treasure chests, wild animals and haunted caves. Not to be outdone, Loreto on the Green Juniors brought matching energy to the room where Dave took them on a wild journey into worlds of monsters, villains and heroes, with the important lesson that, as a writer, you are in charge. This led to some amazing stories created by our young writers.

Following the sessions, the students paid a visit to the library, where they had time to browse and find a new book to borrow and bring home.

These events were kindly supported by Macquarie, who had some fantastic volunteers helping out during the morning author sessions and then browsing the library with the students to help them find their next best book.

Huge thanks to our wonderful authors, our young readers, to Macquarie and their volunteers, and to Pearse St Library for hosting us.
