Irish Girl Guides

Irish Girl Guides We enable girls and young women to develop to their fullest potential. RCN: 20206301 There are seven Regions in the Irish Girl Guides, covering all 26 counties.

The Irish Girl Guides is a uniquely girl-only, youth-driven, active and dynamic organisation. It offers a varied and exciting programme for girls and young women aged 5-26, and opportunities for Leaders of all ages. In an all-female organisation, the girls are free to progress and express themselves in a comfortable setting. They enjoy the activities as they can β€˜just be girls’ without any pressur

es and learn to be themselves in a safe environment while learning the skills that will one day help them to be responsible citizens and adults. Each Region has its own support officer.

πŸ—£οΈ Last Saturday, a group of youth members holding national roles came together at the National Training Centre for IGG's first-ever Youth Voice event.

🌍 The event was an opportunity to hear directly from our young members and ensure that those representing Irish Girl Guides at next month's World Conference will bring their ideas, opinions and priorities with them.

Throughout the day, participants took part in a range of sessions, from getting to grips with conference terminology to discussing and voting on upcoming motions. βœ‹πŸ—³οΈ

πŸ’‘ The views and perspectives gathered during the event will help them at the World Conference and ensure that youth voices remain at the heart of the discussions.

πŸ’™ A huge thank you to all the youth members who took part and generously shared their time, ideas and experiences. Your voices matter, and we are looking forward to seeing them represented on the world stage next month.

Board members, the P&T Committee, and staff came together for a collaborative workshop focused on strengthening our organisation, supporting our Leaders, and enhancing the experience of our members.

The room was full of great conversations, fresh ideas, and shared enthusiasm for the future. πŸ’‘ Thank you to everyone who contributed their time, insights, and energy throughout the day. 🀝

We are looking forward to turning these ideas into action and building an even stronger year ahead! πŸš€

πŸ’š This World Environment Day, we are celebrating the theme: "Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future."

Today is a reminder that every action, big or small, can help protect our planet for generations to come. From climate action and renewable energy to nature-based solutions, people around the world are coming together to create a more sustainable future. 🌍

As members of the Guiding movement, we promise to care for all living things and the environment. This commitment inspires us to make thoughtful choices every day: at home, in school, outdoors, at work, and in our communities.

Through the Journey Programme, girls and young women of all ages connect with nature, learn about climate change, explore environmental challenges, and develop the skills and confidence to take action. 🌱 Whether it's making a difference locally, nationally, or globally, Guiding members are helping to build a better future.

πŸŽ‰ Congratulations to BrΓd on achieving her Silver Gaisce Award!

In the photo, BrΓd is supported and celebrated by Yvonne, Hilery, Anna, Isobel, and Jillian. What a wonderful team of mentors and friends! πŸ’œ

To achieve her Silver Gaisce Award, BrΓd completed two sections of the Wicklow Way πŸ₯Ύ, hiking from Marley Park to Enniskerry and then from Enniskerry to Glendalough. She finished the final kilometres on one of the shorter trails around the Upper Lake πŸŒ„. As part of her award, BrΓd volunteered as a Guide Leader for her community involvement 🀝, practised karate for her physical activity πŸ₯‹, and developed her harp playing for her personal skill 🎡.

An incredible achievement: well done, BrΓd! She is now working towards her Golden Sun / Gold Gaisce Award and we wish her every success on the journey ahead πŸš€.

Through the Dual Award Programme, IGG’s Senior Branch journey is officially linked with Gaisce. This means that the challenges girls take on in IGG (from volunteering and skill-building to outdoor adventures) also count towards their Gaisce Award. By completing their Bronze Star, Silver Moon, or Golden Sun, they simultaneously earn the Bronze, Silver, or Gold Gaisce Award. ✨

What a beautiful way to celebrate Earth Day 🌍

The Belmont Brownies Bray had a very enjoyable River Walk Scavenger Hunt, and it had it all: sunshine, nature and lots of curious explorers! πŸ’š

From Bray Harbour to the People’s Park, they followed the new boardwalk along the river, spotting swans 🦒, herons, fungi and even Horse Chestnut flowers 🌸

A lovely evening enjoying and appreciating the world around us 🌿
