Proud winner of the Carmichael Good Governance Award for 2 years running, recognising excellence in governance. To create a greater awareness of Chronic Pain and to provide relevant information and support for those living with the condition, for their families and friends. Established in 1992, Chronic Pain Ireland CLG. is the only national organisation providing information and support services t

o people living with Chronic Pain. We are a registered charity, and we work with all stakeholders including those living with chronic pain, their families and carers, health professionals, students, researchers and others interested in chronic pain. CPI has demonstrated professional leadership in Ireland and throughout Europe by raising awareness of chronic pain, educating in methods of dealing with the condition, and advocating for the needs of people living in chronic pain. We advocate for multi-disciplinary treatment centres, improved health services and changes to the educational curriculum so that healthcare providers are more aware of the condition and the challenges of diagnosing, treating and managing the condition. We adhere to the principles of good corporate governance. We are transparent and compliant with all regulatory requirements. The Scheme to Support National Organisations is funded by the Government of Ireland through the Department of Rural and Community Development

CPI gratefully acknowledges SSNO funding and the ongoing support of Pobal and the Department of Rural and Community Development under the Programme and Scheme to Support National Organisations (SSNO) 2022-2025

'My name is Mia Walsh and I am a current MSc student in Clinical Neuroscience at the University of Galway. I would like to invite you to take part in a qualitative study to look at chronic pain in women following procedures used for stress urinary incontinence including mesh procedures, sling procedures etc. The study aims to better understand womenโ€™s experiences of living with chronic pain following these procedures. We hope this research will help us to better understand the pain management and psychological support needs of women with chronic pain after these procedures.

We are grateful to CPI for sharing this opportunity with their members and wider audiences. We will share the findings with CPI to help inform future research and support for people affected.'

๐ŸŒŸ Today, on World MS Day, we shine a light on Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and the strength and resilience of those living with this condition across Ireland and beyond.

MS is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system, often causing chronic pain, fatigue, mobility challenges, and many other life-changing symptoms.

๐Ÿ’ก Chronic pain is one of the most common and debilitating aspects of MS. When the immune system mistakenly attacks the nerves, it can lead to inflammation, nerve damage, and disrupted pain signals that impact everyday life.

๐Ÿ’œ Raising awareness of MS and the realities of chronic pain is vital to improving understanding, support, access to care, and ongoing research.

At Chronic Pain Ireland, we are committed to supporting people living with chronic pain through education, advocacy, resources, and community support. Learn more about the supports available: https://chronicpain.ie/how-we-can-help/

Living with chronic pain? Weโ€™re inviting adults with chronic pain to take part in a research study exploring a Virtual Reality (VR) education programme designed to help explain what chronic pain is and how it can be managed.

The programme runs over five weeks and uses an engaging virtual environment - no long lectures and no prior VR experience needed!

By taking part, youโ€™ll help researchers understand whether this approach can improve pain understanding, wellbeing, and quality of life for people living with chronic pain.
