🧵💚 A lovely morning of learning, sharing and sewing! 🪡✨
We had another lovely morning at our Textile Repair class in today! 🥰
This week, our wonderful tutor Arran introduced us to the sewing machine, showing us how it works and helping us get to grips with using it. There was lots to learn, and it’s great to see everyone building their skills and confidence week by week! 🧵🪡
These classes are about so much more than repairing clothes. They’re about learning together, sharing skills, having a chat and a cuppa, and discovering that we can give our favourite clothes a new lease of life rather than throwing them away. ♻️👖💚
A big thank you to Arran for her patience and encouragement, to , for their support and to everyone who joined us this morning. It’s lovely to see these skills being passed on and new ones being learned together. 💕
We’re looking forward to seeing what we get up to next! 🪡✨

💜International Day of Rural Women 💜

Today we’re celebrating rural women and the incredible role they play in communities right across Ireland.

At ’s Collective Ireland - Lucan , we’re lucky to work with women in communities all around the country. We have 17 projects across Ireland, with 12 of those based outside Dublin.

Whether a woman lives in a small rural community, a town, a village or a growing urban area, where we live shapes our everyday lives.

For women in rural communities, things like transport, access to services, childcare, employment, education and places to meet and connect can make a huge difference.

But rural communities are also full of women who organise, volunteer, care, create, campaign, support their neighbours, build connections and make things happen.

That is community development.

It’s about listening to women, recognising what already exists within a community and working alongside women to build on it.

Today we’re celebrating the women who are the heart of communities across Ireland. 🌱

Rural women’s voices matter. Rural women’s work matters. And rural communities matter. 💜

Here’s a lovely, warm post that celebrates the women, the conversations and the joy of sharing cultures! 💕
Conversation Club: Food & Culture
🌍🍲 Conversation Club: Food, Culture & Connection! ☕💕
What a fabulous morning we had at Conversation Club! 🥰
This week, we explored food and culture, sharing stories, favourite dishes, recipes and little pieces of home. Food has such a wonderful way of bringing people together, opening up conversations and helping us learn about one another’s cultures and traditions. ❤️
There were plenty of lovely conversations, lots of sharing and a whole lot of connection around the table! 🌎✨
At Conversation Club, it’s about more than learning English. It’s about building confidence, making connections, sharing experiences and creating a welcoming space where everyone feels comfortable joining in. 💗
A big thank you to all the wonderful women who make our mornings so special. We’re already looking forward to next week! 🥰

💜 World Mental Health Day 💜

Today is World Mental Health Day.

At WCI Lucan, we know that sometimes the first step towards feeling a little better is simply getting through the door.

Coming along to a group. Sitting beside someone you’ve never met before. Having a cup of tea and a chat. Making something. Learning something. Having a laugh. Finding people who understand.

These things might sound small, but connection can make a huge difference.

We create spaces where women can come as they are. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out and no need to explain yourself.

Sometimes you just need somewhere to go, someone to talk to and a community that makes you feel welcome. 🌿

Today, and every day, let’s make space for conversations about how we’re really doing.

🎨 Week 2 of our Community Art – Acrylic Painting 🎨
Another lovely session today in Balgaddy Community Centre. 💜
It’s great to see everyone getting stuck into their paintings, trying out different colours and techniques and having a bit of craic along the way! 🖌️😊
Community art is not just about the painting — it’s about coming together, having a chat, learning something new and having time for ourselves.
Big thanks to our amazing tutor Siobhan from for supporting us and helping make these creative community sessions happen. 💜
Looking forward to seeing how everyone’s paintings come together over the next few weeks! 🎨✨
