THE 18th ANNUAL LUCAN FESTIVAL SET TO LIGHT UP CO. DUBLIN THIS SEPTEMBER
LUCAN, DUBLIN – August 26, 2026 – The Lucan Festival Committee is thrilled to announce the official return of the Lucan Festival for its landmark 18th year. Running from Tuesday, 1st September to Sunday, 6th September 2026, this beloved community staple promises a spectacular week-long itinerary packed with diverse family entertainment, cultural celebrations, and historic showcases.
Following a highly successful official launch event at Kenny’s in Lucan Village—attended by Festival Chairman Joe Byrne, Event Manager Paul Madden, Stage Manager Dara McCraith, and local representatives including Mayor of South Dublin County Council Councillor Francis Timmons—the countdown is officially on for the area’s premier autumn celebration.
This year’s line-up seamlessly blends deep local heritage with vibrant contemporary arts. Festival highlights include:
• Heritage & Local History: The week kicks off at Lucan Library on Tuesday, 1st September (6:30 PM – 8:00 PM) with the launch of the "Lucan Diaries," an illustrated history presentation curated by renowned local historian and Festival Chairman Joe Byrne.
• Lucan House Estate Open Day & Fireworks (Saturday, 5th September): By kind permission, the stunning, historic 34-acre Lucan House grounds will open its gates.
Families can enjoy the immersive "Jurassic Adventure" dinosaur hunt, live performances by the acclaimed Lucan Gospel Choir, and thrilling birds of prey exhibitions.
The evening will conclude with a massive live music concert followed by the festival’s iconic annual fireworks display over the estate lawns (strictly alcohol-free family event).
• Main Street Family Fun Day (Sunday, 6th September): Main Street, Lucan Village will completely close to traffic from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM to host a massive pedestrianised street carnival. Features include an International Food Fair, a Main Stage near Toolans Bridge showcasing exceptional local talent from 2:00 PM onward,
artisan craft stalls, the highly anticipated Lucan Garda Station Open Day, and the traditional Griffeen River Duck Race at 4:30 PM.

"Our dedicated volunteer committee has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to deliver a high-quality program that honors our deep history while offering an inclusive, fun-filled week for families, residents, and visitors alike."
Public Transport Notice: To accommodate Sunday's street festival, traffic restrictions will be in place in Lucan Village between 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Dublin Bus routes C3, C4, and L54 will operate minor diversions via the Lucan bypass during these hours.
