We’re delighted to share that 19 students from our local partner Panikhali Rural Development Society - PRDS have received their Higher Secondary Board Examination results, with every student passing.

The Higher Secondary Examination is the final second-level exam taken by students after completing Class 12 and represents a major milestone in their educational journey.

Over the past two years, the students have shown tremendous commitment and determination in preparing for these exams, and their results are a testament to that effort.

We want to congratulate each student on this achievement and wish them every success as they move on to local colleges and training institutions.

We look forward to continuing to support them in the next stage of their education.

We want to congratulate all the students from our local partner Panikhali Rural Development Society - PRDS on receiving their Class 10 Board Examination results this week
This year, 24 students across PRDS’s three centres sat their Madhyamik Exams, with every student successfully passing.

The students worked incredibly hard over the past year to prepare for these exams, and their results are a testament to their dedication and perseverance.

We would also like to acknowledge the commitment of the PRDS staff, whose support and guidance have played an important role throughout the students’ educational journey.

We wish all the students the very best for the next phase of their studies and look forward to continuing to support them in the years ahead.

The summer heat is now in full swing at our local partner Panikhali Rural Development Society - PRDS project locations.

The students and staff from Boria Centre are making the most of the school garden and taking learning outdoors, enjoying the cool evening breeze during some of their classes.

With the long, hot days, the simple shift brings students fresh energy and focus as they take their classes under open skies.

We want to extend a big thank you to the group from the Coláiste Éanna India Immersion Project for their donation of €6,049.37 to Calcutta Connect.

The group spent a week visiting our local partner Panikhali Rural Development Society - PRDS project locations, meeting students and staff, and sharing a memorable week of learning, friendship and fun between Irish and Indian students.

We also want to acknowledge the huge effort the twelve students and their families put into fundraising before the trip.

Thank you to everyone involved. As with all donations we receive, every euro donated will go directly to the education projects we support.

A community meeting was held today with local women at our local partner Panikhali Rural Development Society - PRDS Alor Disha Centre.

Organised to mark International Women’s Day, the gathering focused on discussions around women’s rights, equality, and equal access to opportunities in society
The meeting was attended by the mothers of children who study at the centre, as well as older students from the local community.

A special guest speaker was invited to help raise awareness and encourage open conversation about the rights and roles of women in society.

The pre-school programme at our local partner Panikhali Rural Development Society - PRDS centres takes three years to complete.

Children often arrive shy and unsure, but they quickly adapt to their new surroundings and begin to develop a love of learning.

By the time they complete the programme, they have grown into confident young learners, ready to take the next steps on their educational journey.

Today marks International Women’s Day.

At Calcutta Connect, we want to recognise the incredible women who make up the teaching staff at our local partner organisation, Panikhali Rural Development Society - PRDS

Every day, this dedicated group gives their time, patience, and encouragement to support children and young people in their education.

This year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” reflects their work perfectly. By giving so much of themselves to their students, they help young people gain knowledge, confidence, and opportunities for a brighter future.

Today, we celebrate their commitment and the lasting impact they make in the lives of the students they support. 💛

We’re always delighted to see former students of our local partner Panikhali Rural Development Society - PRDS go on to succeed.

Sania is a former student of PRDS’s Alor Disha Centre who we supported through our student sponsorship programme during her school and college years.

After impressing last year while covering for a staff member on maternity leave, she has now been appointed as a pre-school teacher with PRDS.

It’s wonderful to see former students return as teaching staff, a powerful reflection of the impact that education and long-term support can have on the lives of the students we work with.
