IWD26. Today, Women’s Collective Ireland - Ronanstown and Wci Liffey Valley are hosting a film screening of The Day Iceland Stood Still at the ÁRAS CHRÓNÁIN.

On 24th October, 1975, 90% of women in Iceland refused to work, cook, or take care of the children. They brought their country to a standstill and catapulted Iceland to the “best place in the world to be a woman” today. The film’s message about the collective power of women to transform their society inspires viewers to reimagine the possible!

When We Give, We Gain. Together, let's help forge gender equality through abundant giving.

The IWD 2026 Give To Gain Campaign encourages a mindset of generosity and collaboration. Give To Gain emphasises the power of reciprocity and support. When people, organisations, and communities give generously, opportunities and support for women increase. When Women Thrive, We All Rise.

We can all give our support to gain advancement for women and girls.

Who we are..

The National Collective of Community Based Women's Networks represents 17 grass-groots women's groups, from all over Ireland. The mission of the NCCWN is to empower and support community-based women who experience disadvantage and marginalisation as a result of barriers to participation and lack of opportunities. This will be achieved by our women’s projects bringing about positive and sustainable changes to their lives and society using collective action and feminist approaches, with an emphasis on policy and challenging structures, attitudes and behaviours that marginalise women.
