Most of our students have landed this week, and the rest are on their way over the next few days ✈️ Suitcases open, uniforms still in the packaging, and school starting before anyone's had time to shake off the jet lag.

The first week is always the same. A bit of nerves, a lot of new names to remember, and someone finding out the hard way that Irish rain doesn't care about your plans ☔

Give it a few weeks and they'll be arguing about hurling and asking for seconds at dinner 😄

Here's to a great year for our students, our host families, our schools and our partners. It's going to be a good one 💙

Welcome to Ireland, and welcome back to those returning 🇮🇪

Thinking about hosting a student, or about sending your child to Ireland? We'd love to hear from you. Drop us a message, call +353 (01) 678 4800, or visit www.hsinet.org to find out how it works 📩

Week one in Ireland: what nobody tells you 🇮🇪

Say yes in the first week
Shops, a match, a random family dinner, go. Saying yes early is how you stop being "the new student" and start being one of the family.

Ask, don't guess
Laundry, keys, food, what time to be home. Nobody expects you to know how an Irish house works on day two. Asking beats guessing wrong in silence.

Learn your route before you need it
Walk the school route once with someone first. Sort your Leap card, save the bus number, and find out what time you actually need to leave (spoiler: earlier than you think 🚌).

The weather is not a joke
Four seasons in one day is a real thing here. Bring a rain jacket you'll actually wear and know that nobody, ever, cancels plans over rain ☔

And if week one feels a bit much? Tell your host family or your HSI coordinator. That's what we're here for 💙

Thinking about welcoming a student this year? A few things that make the first weeks go smoothly 🏠

🏠 Set the house routine early — Walk them through how things work: mealtimes, wifi, laundry, coming and going. Clear expectations from day one save a lot of confusion later.

💬 Be patient in the first weeks — Homesickness and language nerves are normal. A slower conversation and a warm welcome go a long way while they settle in.

👪 Include them in everyday life — They're part of the family, not a guest. Bring them to the shops, dinners, and weekend outings. The ordinary moments are usually what they remember most.

🍽️ Ask about food early on — Check for allergies and a few dishes they like. Nothing fancy needed — sharing your normal family meals is part of it.

Hosting is a small thing that makes a big difference — for the student, and often for your own family too ☘️

The wait is nearly over! This weekend, our students finally start arriving in Ireland! ✈️

Months of planning, paperwork, and packing all come down to this. New faces, nervous excitement, and the very first step of a big adventure.

To our students: we can't wait to meet you. To our host families: thank you for opening your homes. Here's to a brilliant year ahead ☘️

We're in StudyTravel Magazine 🇮🇪🇧🇷

For years we've welcomed Brazilian students to Ireland. Now it goes the other way.

The São Paulo Connection sends Irish students aged 15–17 to São Paulo State for 30 days, living with local host families, going to Brazilian schools, and getting real day-to-day life in a new country.

It's built on a direct partnership with São Paulo State's Department of Education, with regional coordinators supporting students the whole way through.

Our group lands back in Ireland tomorrow, and they've plenty to tell. Keep watching this space for their stories from Brazil.

Hear from JJ about his experience in Brazil with his host family 💛

Our four brave Irish students head home to Ireland this weekend after an amazing month in São Paulo 🇧🇷

They've gotten to know a different culture, studied in Brazil and lived with Brazilian host families and we couldn't be prouder of how much they've grown along the way.

Prontos Pro Mundo is delivered by SEDUC-SP and facilitated by High Schools International.

Moving to Ireland soon? Three things worth sorting before you fly ✈️

🌦️ Pack for the weather — Bring layers and a waterproof. Sun and rain in the same afternoon is just a normal day here.

📞 Save your key contacts — Put your host family and HSI coordinator in your phone before you leave. One less thing to worry about, for you and your parents.

👋 Say a proper goodbye — Spend real time with family and friends first, and swap contacts so it's easy to stay in touch. It makes leaving feel a bit lighter.

That's it. See you in Ireland ☘️

☘️ Three days. One brilliant start to life in Ireland. ☘️

Before school even begins, our Welcome Camp gives new HSI students a safe, supervised way to find their feet in Dublin — and honestly? It's a blast. 🙌

Come for the tips, stay for the friendships. This is your confident first step into the year ahead. ✨
