The Kurds are one of the most misunderstood people groups in the world — and one of the most important allies America has had in the Middle East.
In "The Miracle of the Kurds," I tell the story of their resilience, their hope, and why their future matters.

Two children left without parents after drone hit their home in Erbil Kurdistan.

We want our mom and dad…” 💔 With these simple words, little girls Melin and Dilin encapsulate an indescribable pain… Two innocent children whose lives were snatched away in an instant, after their home was targeted by a drone on the outskirts of Erbil.
At dawn on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the couple
Musa Anwar Rasul and Muzhda Asaad Hassan were killed,
after a booby-trapped drone struck their home in the village of Zarka Zoy, in the Dar Shakran district.
The crime left two young girls, in the bloom of youth, unaware that their parents were being buried behind them… and unable to understand why “Mommy and Daddy” would never return to embrace them again.
A heartbreaking incident that shook everyone's hearts, a scene that reflects the cruelty of war when it strikes the innocent first.
Authorities have described this attack as a “war crime,” amidst escalating regional tensions. Mercy and eternal life to the martyrs…
And patience and solace to their families…

Today March 16th the 38th anniversary of the Halabja massacre against the Kurd's its families are seeking compensation.

On the 38th anniversary of the Halabja massacre, Kurdish leaders underlined that Baghdad must compensate the people of Kurdistan.

On March 16, 1988, the former Iraqi Ba’athist regime unleashed chemical gas over Halabja, resulting in the deaths of approximately 5,000 men, women, and children and leaving more than 10,000 individuals wounded.

“The crime of the chemical bombardment of Halabja was a very great injustice against the people of Kurdistan. Nowhere else in the world has a state committed genocide against its own citizens using chemical weapons, but in Iraq this great crime was carried out against the people of Kurdistan,” President Masoud Barzani said.

"Despite this brutal crime, there are still chauvinistic individuals in Iraq who oppose the rights of the people of Kurdistan. The crime of Halabja and all the crimes of the past are a historical and legal responsibility of Iraq, and it must compensate the people of Kurdistan.”
