Today the Central Bank is due to decide whether to approve the Israel Bonds prospectus for another year. We're asking the Tánaiste to step in and stop it happening.

The Government has already said what is happening in Gaza is a genocide. Facilitating these bonds funds that genocide.

The Government must intervene.

Public sector pay: Unite members vote overwhelmingly for industrial action

👉Government must make meaningful offer or face winter strikes

Unite, which represents members across the public sector, has announced that members have returned an overwhelming mandate for industrial action, if the government fails to make a ‘meaningful offer’ on pay following the expiry of the 2024-2026 Public Services Agreement.

Unite is a member of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions’ Public Services Committee, which earlier in the summer advised that they do not believe there is a viable basis for opening formal negotiations, in the absence of the government setting out a sufficiently credible approach to public sector workers’ pay and living standards at the outset.

Unite will now consult with its shop stewards on the nature and timing of industrial action.

Porridge threat: Flahavan’s workers ballot for strike action

👉Company accused of retrospectively tying pay deal to ‘unseen and unagreed’ policy

Unite, which represents the overwhelming majority of workers at Flahavan’s in Kilmacthomas, said today that an extraordinary general meeting of members over the weekend decided unanimously to ballot for industrial action at the plant. Flahavan’s supplies around half of all porridge oats consumed at Irish breakfast tables.

The decision to ballot follows management’s unilateral attempt to tie a new pay deal to a ‘flexibility agreement’ which has been neither seen nor negotiated by Unite.

Calling Unite public sector members 👇

Unite and other unions affiliated to the Irish Congress of Trade Unions Public Services Committee (PSC) have agreed to conduct ballots for industrial action as part of a coordinated campaign to improve public service pay in the context of high inflation levels. The PSC is made up of all 19 affiliated unions in the Republic of Ireland with members in the civil and/or public service. These unions collectively represent the majority of the State’s civil and public servants.

Unite’s ballot concludes at 1 pm on 21 August.

If you have not yet received your ballot paper, please email [email protected] or your local Unite office: Dublin 01 873 4577 | Dundalk 042 9334338 | Limerick: 061 204157 | Waterford: 051 874438

Around 320,000 households are in arrears with energy bills. But the CEO of ESB gets a 29% salary increase!
CEO of Uisce Éireann gets a 47% pay rise.
Data centres are using approx 21% of our electricity while employing practically nobody and pay no tax.
Government will whinge about giving public sector workers a 2 or 3% increase.
We need to be pushing back big time.
