Today marks the beginning of May, and the beginning of our 2026 IronMonth Fundraiser.

Participants, including our clients, friends, family and staff, will take on an Ironman-style triathlon: 3.8km swim, 42km run or walk, and 180km cycle - all completed at a pace that suits them. Whether that's across the month, in a few weeks, or even just a few days.

More than just a physical challenge, Ironmonth is about community, encouragement, and personal achievement. We are incredibly proud of our clients who take part each year, pushing themselves and supporting one another every step of the way.

You can get involved by taking on the challenge yourself or by supporting those who are. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference and goes directly towards helping us continue our vital work.

Together, we can make this year's IronMonth our most impactful yet.

That means many deaths are not caused directly by the injury.

They follow a decision.

And many of those decisions are made within 72 hours.

At a point when the brain is still in its earliest phase of recovery.

This isn’t just about medicine.
It’s about how we decide.

We were delighted to welcome Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll MacNeill to the An Saol Foundation in Santry on the 8th of April, where she met with people living with severe Acquired Brain Injury (sABI), their families, and members of our team.

The visit provided an important opportunity to share, at first hand, the lived realities of those affected by sABI and to highlight the urgent need for appropriate, person-centred long-term pathways of care.

We also outlined the progress and readiness of Teach an Saol as a purpose-built National Centre, and the critical next steps required to bring it forward.

Visit to the Wayfinding Centre

On Tuesday 10th of March, we had the amazing opportunity to visit the Wayfinding Centre in Glasnevin. The centre provides people with disabilities practical training and hands-on experience in using various forms of public transport, including the Luas, Dublin Bus, the Dart and even an airplane.

It was a fantastic opportunity for our clients and everyone here at An Saol to familiarise ourselves with the centre and the valuable practical training it provides. We hope to organise more hands-on and training-focused visits for our clients in the future.

We’d like to thank the Wayfinding Centre for hosting us, and all our clients, their carers, and our staff who helped make it such a great trip.

The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Ray McAdams Councillor Ray McAdam, visited the An Saol Foundation on Friday, 27 February 2026, accompanied by Councillor Ralph. He spent much time with our Clients, their families, and carers. He expressed his full support for our work and the Teach An Saol Project - our new National Centre for Life and Living with a severe Acquired Brain Injury (sABI) for which we recently received the final planning permission. It is to be built on land made available by Dublin City Council. We look forward to the visit by Tánaiste Simon Harris TD who promised Paul McAuliffe TD in the Irish Parliament that he will bring Teach An Saol over the line. Our clients can't wait.
