🌈 Pride Month – Identity & Unity Workshop 🌈

Today we were delighted to host a LGBTQI+ Information Workshop at Women’s Collective Ireland, Ronanstow as part of our Pride Month celebrations.

The workshop was facilitated by Collette O’Reilly from LGBT Ireland and provided a very informative and engaging learning experience. Participants explored the issues impacting the lives of LGBTQI+ people in Ireland today, grounded in research and lived experience.

The session created a safe and welcoming learning space for parents, families, community members, and anyone interested in inclusion and diversity. It was encouraging to see such positive engagement and meaningful discussion throughout the morning.

A huge thank you to LGBT Ireland, Collette, and everyone who attended and contributed to making this workshop such a success.

Yesterday at Rock the System we looked at inspiring female leaders in their industries and platforms in Ireland. We took note of their leadership insights with a particular interest on their unique value statements.

We discussed how their work, impact and lives, decision making and opportunity taking remains anchored in their value/mission statements.

Some examples were Clr Uruemu Adeniji - Ireland's first black female mayor. "I have a responsibility to reach people."

Bobbie Hickey - events & PR manager with Mobility Mojo. "Ask how you want people to feel in your presence."

Dr Joy Tendai Kangere - Barrister, lecturer, public speaker, writer and community advocate."Ubuntu - I am, because we are."

We also looked at the top 3 skills of adaptive leadership as described by equality and human rights expert Dr Lucy Michael.

"Believe in your infinite capacity to lead regardless of your authority."

This session leads us on to our final creative session which we are looking forward to next week. Women’s Collective Ireland

Women’s Collective Ireland - Ronanstown Coordinator, Sinead Greaney Mahon had the pleasure of speaking at the European Gender Studies Network (UGEN) Annual Meeting yesterday at UCD Gender Studies UCD Social Policy, Social Work and Social Justice. Women's Collective Ireland National Programme Coodinator, Vivienne Glanville gave an overview of our work in the 17 communities around the country.

It was an opportunity to share insights from the Women, Gender and Social Justice Community/University Outreach Programme, and to discuss the work of our community partners Dublin and Dún Laoghaire ETB CDETB Adult Education Service, Crumlin Area and Centres Loreto Centre Crumlin as part of a truly reciprocal partnership model.

Both Beatrice Hughes & Ruth Baldacchino gave there insights on teaching not only on the programme but the preparation for college course.

We also highlighted the impact of funders and wrap-around supports on women's educational journey.

Thank you to colleagues and delegates from Poland, Switzerland, Scotland and Germany for such engaged discussion, thoughtful questions, and shared learning. These conversations really highlighted the value of community‑embedded approaches to gender and social justice.

Many thanks to Aideen Quilty the and UCD team & for the warm invitation and excellent hosting.
