There are just a few spaces remaining on our next Sonas Programme, starting Friday, 18 September in Dublin.

The Sonas Programme is an evidence-based therapeutic activity programme designed to support meaningful communication, engagement and connection for people living with dementia.

Through music, movement, sensory stimulation, reminiscence and communication, Sonas gives care professionals practical tools to create meaningful moments with people living with dementia – including those with more advanced dementia.

The Carlow Dementia Cafe are looking for a new home as their current home is being sold.

Ideally the premises will be in Carlow town and somewhere that has parking and wheelchair access, on the ground floor with kitchen facilities close by to make teas and coffees. They have about 30 people attend each month and it is growing so they would like somewhere that could accommodate up to 50 people.

The cafe is held once a month for 2 hours.

The St. Michael's Memory Cafe take place on the 1st Tuesday of every month and offers support to those living with dementia and their families and carers.

🎥 Watch our new video! Across Ireland, many Dementia Cafes are now being hosted in 𝗚𝗔𝗔 𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗯𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀, demonstrating the vital role clubs play at the heart of their communities. By opening their doors, GAA clubs are creating inclusive spaces where friendships flourish, isolation is reduced, and people affected by dementia know they are always welcome.

As an 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗔𝗔 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮 is encouraging more clubs across Ireland to establish a Dementia Cafe in their community. We were absolutely delighted to showcase Engaging Dementia and the Irish Dementia Cafe Network during a pitch-side interview at half-time of yesterday's Dublin v Galway All-Ireland Football Quarter-Final in Croke Park.
Our CEO, Kim Tully, was joined by Charlie Drake from Cork, who spoke so passionately about the difference his local Dementia Café has made to his life. Charlie's story was a powerful reminder of the importance of creating welcoming spaces where people living with dementia, their families and carers can connect, share experiences and feel supported.

As one of the GAA's Official Charity Partners for 2026, we are encouraging GAA clubs across Ireland to consider opening a Dementia Café in their community. Together, we can help reduce isolation, strengthen community connections and ensure that people living with dementia and their families feel welcomed and supported.

A huge thank you to the GAA for providing this wonderful opportunity to raise awareness of the Irish Dementia Cafe Network and the positive impact these cafés are having in communities across the country.

This Thursday The Donnybrook Dementia Cafe will be talking about Summer Holidays Old & New. Bring some old holiday snaps if you wish and enjoy some chats, tea, cake and music!

It all takes place from 7-9pm in the Avila Carmelite Centre off Morehampton road.

The The Cosy Cafe Kilbeggan returns on Tuesday June 11th and they will be joined by Eimear Fox from Fox Physiotherapy Kilbeggan as their guest speaker. Eimear will also guide their members through some gentle exercises.

🎶 They are delighted to have Scór ná bPáisti from Scoil on Chlochair join for music along with Trevor Marshall.

The usual tea 🫖, treats 🍰 🧁 🍪 and chats all to be enjoyed too!

The Laragh Memory Cafe in Glendalough returns on Friday June 12th at 11am and this month they will host an Azure presentation.

Visual art can be a great topic for people living with dementia; you don’t need recall to enjoy the moment. The IMMA - Irish Museum of Modern Art Azure programme is a participatory initiative that supports wellbeing through creative engagement with art.

There's free tea & cake; and all are welcome!

Laragh Memory café is a welcoming, informal gathering for people living with dementia, their carers and supportive community members to socialise, share experiences, and access reliable information.

The Drogheda Cafe is at 11am in Drogheda Library, Stockwell Lane & the Dundalk Cafe is at 2.30pm in Louth Co Library, Roden Place, Dundalk, Co Louth.
