Music & Health Ireland is inviting applications from professional musicians to join our Panel of Musicians (2026–2028).

This is an opportunity to use your musicianship in a different way: bringing live music into hospitals, healthcare settings, schools and communities where it can make a meaningful difference.

We're currently recruiting for:

🎵 Community Musician / Music Facilitator: Children & Teens – Dublin Region

🎵 Professional Musician- Performer or Music Duo: Midwest (Clare, Limerick & Tipperary)

You don't need previous Arts & Health experience.

What matters is that you are:

• an excellent musician
• a thoughtful communicator
• curious and open to learning
• interested in developing your practice through mentoring

We're seeking a freelance professional to help us create a Musical Repertoire Booklet for Music & Health Ireland,.
An internal resource that supports the onboarding of new musicians and our mentorship programme.
The successful applicant will work closely with our Artistic Director and artist team to gather and edit musical repertoire, write and edit supporting text, and design the final booklet to a professional digital standard.

We're looking for someone with copywriting and editorial experience, comfortable with manuscript or lead sheet formatting, and the ability to work independently to a deadline. Fee: €1,200 (inclusive of VAT).

Sometimes the most meaningful music in a day begins with a knock on a door. 🎵

This week, our Musicians-On-Call team travelled the roads between Dromcollogher, Newcastle West and Limerick City, bringing live music directly to older people in residential care.

The video captures one of those quiet moments that often says the most.

Standing in the doorway of a resident's room, our musicians take the time, listen and respond to a personal song request. There is no stage, no spotlight and no audience of hundreds. Just a conversation through music, shared at the resident's own pace, in their own space.

Every room becomes a place of connection.

The Musicians-On-Call programme is funded by Creative Ireland, Limerick City and County Council, Clare County Council and Tipperary County Council through the Live Music in Residential Healthcare Settings Scheme 2026.

🎶 Music Beyond Sound. Connection Beyond Words.

This week, we brought our Notes & Signs programme to the Midwest School for the Deaf summer camp, where young people explored music through vibration, movement, creativity and hands-on instrument experiences.

From feeling the resonance of strings and percussion through subwoofers and resonators to discovering new ways of connecting with music, the week was filled with curiosity, laughter and inspiring moments.

At Music & Health Ireland, Notes & Signs is about opening doors to music for Deaf and hard of hearing children and young people. Together, we explore music through sound, touch, vibration and creativity, creating experiences where everyone can participate, express themselves and belong.

Every visit reminds us that when barriers are removed, talent shines, confidence grows and music becomes a language that everyone can share.

We're looking forward to more summer camp visits throughout July and can't wait to share more stories from this exciting journey.

Because music is more than something we hear... it's something we can feel, see, create and experience together. 💛

Every young person deserves the opportunity to experience, create and belong through music. 🎶

This week we visited our friends in the
Midwest School for the Deaf for their Summer Camp.

At Music & Health Ireland, we travel to meet young people where they are, creating opportunities to explore music through sound, touch, vibration and creativity.

From trying instruments for the first time to feeling music through resonators and subwoofers, it was a privilege to witness the curiosity, confidence and talent of so many young people. We always leave inspired by their creativity, their openness and the endless possibilities that emerge when music is made accessible.

One of our biggest challenges as an organisation is securing funding to support an Associate Irish Sign Language (ISL) Performance Interpreter at Music & Health Ireland This role would help open up even more opportunities for Deaf and hard of hearing children and young people to access music education, creative participation and live performance.

Every child deserves the chance to discover music in a way that works for them. We're excited to continue this journey throughout the summer and to share more moments from the road in the weeks ahead. 💛

A special moment from this week's Musicians-On-Call visits in Tipperary.

While many residents enjoy gathering together for music in shared spaces, one of the unique aspects of the Musicians-On-Call programme is that we also bring live music directly to residents who choose to remain in their own rooms or who are unable to join group activities because of their location or support needs.

We believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience the joy and connection of live music, regardless of where they are within a healthcare setting.

In this short video, singer Colin Kenny Music leads a familiar song alongside David Hope and Darran Bourke as the musicians make their way from room to room, creating gentle, personal musical moments for residents along the way. These individual visits are often some of the most meaningful parts of the day, allowing music to meet people where they are.

🎶 Music in Good Company Dementia Inclusive Lunchtime Series continues at University Concert Hall, Limerick 🎶

We are delighted to welcome two of Ireland’s most-loved voices of Mike Hanrahan & Eleanor Shanley, for a very special lunchtime concert on Wednesday 10th June at 12 noon.

Together, they bring an afternoon of beautiful songs, stories, and connection, including music from their new EP, The Ghost of You.

💜 Music in Good Company is a dementia inclusive concert series created by Music & Health Ireland in collaboration with University Concert Hall Limerick.

We are so excited for this Wednesday and we wanted to take a moment to introduce the three brilliant artists who will be sharing their music with us 🎶

Colin Kenny Music
If you haven't come across Colin yet, you are in for such a treat. Also known as "the singing barber" from Borrisokane in Tipperary, Colins' songs are rooted in real life, personal stories, the people and the landscapes of the Ireland he grew up in. His track Will You Dance With Me, Annie? He was recently honoured with an award at the inaugural Hot Country TV Social Dancing Appreciation and Recognition Awards, held at the Shamrock Lodge Hotel in Athlone

Darran Bourke
Darran has spent years performing at life's most meaningful moments, weddings, funerals, ceremonies, and celebrations, and that experience shows in every single note he plays. He has an extraordinary gift for finding exactly the right music for the right moment, and a stage presence that is warm, generous, and completely genuine.

David Hope
David is from County Clare, and his music carries that landscape with it wherever he goes. Somewhere between traditional Irish song, folk, and Americana, his sound is intimate and deeply soulful, the kind of music that stays with you long after the last note. His albums Scarecrow and ...And The Sea have earned him admiration across Ireland and internationally, and it is easy to hear why the moment he starts to sing.

All three musicians work with Music & Health Ireland on our Midwest Musicians-On-Call Programme, and we are delighted to be bringing these three together this Wednesday. Come and hear them for yourself 🎵

We were honoured to be part of such an inspiring and important day last Saturday May 2nd at the Deaf Perspectives Symposium: *Innovations in Multisensory Music Research* at Music and Health Ireland and Dublin City University during Deaf Awareness Week.

A heartfelt thank you to symposium curator for creating a space where learning, listening, creativity and accessibility could come together so meaningfully. It was a privilege to contribute to the conversations around multisensory music engagement, inclusion, access supports and choice. And our Artisitic Director and Operations Manager Gearoid were delighted to bring along a set of Haptic Vestics for attendees to try
Through our project, we are passionate about supporting more inclusive music experiences and creating practical pathways for venues, educators and organisations to become more accessible and welcoming.

We were delighted to share two new free resources on the day:
🎵 A resource for music educators and schools
🎭 A resource for Livevenues and Arts Festival organisations

These resources were developed with the support of the Ireland Award and created in partnership with and alongside ISL interpreters, Musicians and the Deaf Community.
