🌱 Heritage Week: Sacred Forest 🌿

March 2022. Templeglantine, Co. Limerick. 1,150 trees. 11 native species. One community.

The Guru Nanak Sacred Forest grew from collective action: EcoSikh Ireland, Reforest Nation, local Irish community, Irish Sikh community, parents & students united to plant using Miyawaki-inspired methods. Dense, biodiverse pioneer forests that mature in 10 years.

Named to honour Max Arthur MacAuliffe: Irish historian of Sikhism, Newcastle West native, Templeglantine National School alumnus.

Proud to be part of National Heritage Week, advancing biodiversity for Ireland's future.

Big thanks to Shirley S for beautiful narration.

πŸ† What an incredible afternoon at the DiP 6th Visibility Awards 2026!πŸ†

A huge thank you to our amazing presenters Bulelani Mfaco, Alex, Rose, Sharon Mpofu for sharing such a powerful and inspiring story "The Courage to Be Visible in a New Home." Divine's speech was incredible (can we get a copy?)

Congratulations to every single nominee and winner of today's Visibility Awards and Kudos Awards. Your courage, your stories, and your contributions to County Wicklow are seen, celebrated, and deeply valued.

Today reminded us that when we stand together, we are stronger. New communities and local communities, side by side, building a more inclusive, more vibrant Ireland!

And a very special thank you, this was EcoSikh Ireland's first ever award nomination, and we are so proud and honoured. 🌱

Together, we stand strong. πŸ’ͺ

Thank you to , , , and all the supporting organisations for making today possible. πŸ’«

We believe in quiet work like planting today for a shade we may never sit under ourselves.

Last year at our Miyawaki planting in Greystones, one of the volunteers was Andrea who showed up, dug in, and carried something home with her: an idea.

She built .app a beautiful, free tool that lets you log your plantings on a living map, track how trees survive over time, and identify native species around you. 🌿 This is a tool for monitoring reforestation projects in three regions: the Iberian Peninsula, the Canary Islands, and the British Isles. It includes official datasets with protected, introduced, and native species.

If you planted with us, we'd love for you to give it a try and tell us what you think. Every piece of feedback helps shape something built by the community, for the community.

No app store needed. Just open reforesta.dehesa.dev on your phone, tap the three dots, and add it to your Home Screen.

National Volunteer Week 2026: Recognition Event by Wicklow Volunteer Centre

From the stunning walled garden tour to the beautiful at Russborough House, a lovely lunch, and gorgeous grounds to explore. It was the most wonderful, relaxing day. Exactly what the soul needed!

It was so lovely to meet fellow volunteers: the quiet, dedicated, unsung heroes who give their time so generously to make a real difference. Every single one of you is truly inspiring. πŸ’š

And the gorgeous goodies… what a thoughtful touch! We are truly, truly grateful.
