Vox Hiberniae draw on a variety of composers and genres, interspersed with reflections from/about St. Francis, to reflect musically on the life of St. Francis of Assisi from the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Dublin, where the community of Adam and Eve's Friary continue in the tradition of St. Francis. Rolf Løvland's compositions expound the virtues of hope, which the prayer of St. Francis exhorts us to sow in place of despair, and simplicity, as exemplified in St. Francis' way of life. Seacht Suáilce na Maighdine is a traditional Irish piece celebrating seven joys in the life of the Virgin Mary, a tradition also observed in the "Franciscan Crown" devotion. The praises found in St. Francis' Canticle of the Sun are echoed in Ronan McDonagh's setting of psalm 150 and in the traditional Irish piece Céad Glóire which offers one hundred glories to God the Father. The chant antiphon from St Francis' feast day recalls how St Francis "... taught to praise; he was always praising; Praise, I say, of the Savior; He invites birds, beasts, and other creatures to praise the Creator".

A School of Prayer for all who would like to deepen their practice of Christian Meditation will be held in the Lane Room on Sunday 4th December 2022 from 6pm to 9pm.
There will be two talks, Caroline Stratton from Dublin and Rev Sarah Bachelard live from Australia.There will also be tea and fraternity, and time to meditate.
All welcome, including absolute beginners…and that’s all of us !!

A Word from Fr Jim
A blessed Advent to everyone. This weekend3rd/4th December
we invite you to leave toys for Ukrainian children around the altar
The Church will stay open until 9.00pm Sunday. Also on Sunday, we have our school of
prayer in the Lane room of the Pastoral Centre 6.00 -9.00pm.
We will have two talks with Caroline Stratton & Rev Sarah Bachelard joining us from
Australia, tea, toast and meditation. I especially invite you if you would like to begin a
deeper practice of meditation. It is a good way to spend an Advent Sunday.
Looking ahead to Christmas there will be three Masses on Christmas Eve,
6.00pm (Children)
8.00pm (Adult Choir) and
10.00pm Contemplative Mass in the Lane Room,
(with Italian refreshments afterward.)
On Christmas day Mass is at 10.00am. (Choir)
Don’t forget Advent carols & cribs On Sunday 1th December at 5.00pm

The death has occurred of Rory Kavanagh Sandyford, Dublin / Milltown, Dublin
Formerly Columbanus, Milltown. Beloved husband of Helen and adored dad of Aileen and Caragh. Rory will be sadly missed by his loving family, his grandchildren Shauna, Cillian, Blain, Siobhán, Alannah and Caitlin, his great-grandchildren Kayleigh, Darragh and Saoirse, his brothers, sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
May Rory Rest in Peace

Next Friday , December 2nd, 2022 at 7pm we begin our First Friday talks in the Lane Room of the Pastoral Centre.
We are delighted to welcome Dr Barry White, from St James Hospital. Dr Barry is a meditator with the World Community for Christian Meditation and will address such issues as stress, exercise, sleep, diet, aging. He will help us to understand how meditating can help us on our journey.He is truly an inspiring person.
At the end of the talk, Sr Rosa from China will join us with some exercises for those those who like to stretch a little.

Where any toys require batteries or accessories, please do try, and include them.
Please do not include any sharp or breakable objects. When ready, wrap the box
and the lid separately. Hold the box together with a large elastic band. Please do
not seal it with tape as boxes will need to be reviewed by customs. Where you can,
we would also ask that you please donate towards the shipping process, which will
ensure that your kind donation arrives in time
