We were delighted to celebrate World Table Tennis Day 2026 with an amazing afternoon of fun, inclusion and community through sport 🏓💙

Young people from the local community came together at St Laurence O’Toole Recreation Centre to enjoy table tennis activities promoting health, well-being and social connection in a welcoming environment for all.

At SARI, we continue to use sport as a tool to bring people together, break down barriers and create positive spaces where everyone belongs.

A huge thank you to all participants, volunteers, partners and St Laurence O’Toole Recreation Centre who helped make the day such a success.

We celebrated the 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑫𝒂𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑺𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑫𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒑𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑷𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒆 by participating and winning the MYC tournament 🏆⚽

At SARI, sport is more than competition — it is a way to bring people together, create opportunities for connection and break down barriers. Through programmes such as Football for Unity, Soccernites, the Sport for Social Cohesion Lab and Football Versus Discrimination workshops, we use sport to promote inclusion, dialogue and belonging across communities.

This year’s theme, Sport: Building Bridges, Breaking Barriers, reflects the work sport does every day in creating spaces of respect, solidarity and shared experience.

In celebration of the 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 future SARI Young Leaders from the Diverse City and Soccernites Under-18s gathered to raise awareness and gain support for action on racism and all forms of discrimination.

𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 is observed annually on the 21st March, the day in 1960 that police in Sharpeville, South Africa shot dead 69 people at a peaceful demonstration against the Apartheid ‘Pass Laws’ - an internal passport system designed to racially segregate the population, restrict movement of individuals and allocate low-wage migrant labour. Proclaiming the day in 1966 the UN General Assembly called on the international community to redouble its efforts to eliminate all forms of racial discrimination. It is a day for us to consider the continuing curse of racism and what we can do about it. The future is in our hands.

SARI uses the power of sport to challenge discrimination, promote cultural integration and drive social inclusion throughout Ireland. Working with schools, Direct Provision Centres, refugee and local communities SARI delivers anti-discrimination educational workshops, intercultural sporting events and a Young Leaders youth development and employability programme collectively creating opportunities for all.

Over the course of 2025, our 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗶-𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 were delivered to 67 schools across 11 counties nationwide, engaging with more than 5000 young people through sport, dialogue and reflection 🎓🤝

These workshops created space for honest conversations around equality, respect, identity and belonging — supporting young people to challenge discrimination and play an active role in shaping a more inclusive generation 💙

A sincere thank you to all the students, teachers, school staff and facilitators who welcomed us into their schools and contributed openly to these sessions 🙌

As the year comes to a close, we’re reflecting on everything we’ve delivered, learned and built together across our programmes and communities 💙⚽

From Anti-Discrimination workshops, Football for Unity, Sport for Social Cohesion (SSCL), Soccernites, summer camps, Diverse City, D8 Soccerfest, Africa Day in Dublin and Cork, Comhairle na nÓg, welcoming the Canadian medical team, to a fundraiser with Under Armour and Beyond Sport, our Young leaders visiting LinkedIn and more — each moment has been shaped by connection, participation and shared purpose 🤝✨
A sincere thank you to all the participants, young people, coaches, facilitators, volunteers and staff who brought these programmes to life throughout the year 🙌

Thank you to the venues who opened their doors to us, and most importantly to our partners and supporters for your trust, collaboration and continued belief in this work 💙

Together, we keep creating spaces where people can connect, learn and grow through sport and beyond ⚽✨
