It pays to fight 💪💪💪

On this day 2 years ago left Tathony House after fighting a mass eviction for 18 months. We were still in our homes a year after original eviction date and only left when all our neighbours were housed and we were last ones there. The landlord, Ronan McDonnell, gave eviction notices to 34 working families and got €5.65 million for the building. The new owners got a deal with DCC and its now emergency accommodation for homeless people. But it pays to fight. I fought my eviction tooth and nail got an extra year. We were lucky we had 15 years on housing list and now live in social housing. You can read the story of our eviction battle here:

HSE have confirmed, via a PQ reply to Máire Devine TD that their deal to transfer ownership of the James Weir Home to another state body has broken down. It is now the intention of the HSE to put the Weir Home on the private market 😡. This is something we warned about for months! D8 still crying out for more community spaces. Given what seems to happen constantly in the area now, I would not be surprised if some aparthotel developer comes for it now 🙄.
