Every day, people who are blind or vision-impaired encounter obstacles that can make getting around safely and independently much more difficult.

Wheelie bins left on footpaths, poorly parked e-scooters and bicycles, overhanging branches, street furniture, dog fouling, and vehicles blocking pedestrian routes can all create unnecessary hazards.

As we prepare for this year's Clear Our Paths campaign, we want to hear about your experiences.

If you are blind or vision impaired and have encountered obstacles while out and about, please take a few minutes to complete our anonymous survey. Your experiences will help us highlight the real impact these barriers have and support our campaign for safer, more accessible streets for everyone.

The survey closes on 31 August.

Woodstock was alive yesterday — local musicians playing their hearts out, perfect summer weather, and a BBQ that brought the whole community together. Good food, good laughs, good people. Days like this remind us why we love our village.

The Dublin City Community Safety Survey has launched!
This survey is an opportunity for everyone who lives, works, studies or spends time in Southeast Area to share their views on local safety issues and help shape future community safety priorities.
Community safety is about more than policing alone - it involves residents, communities, public services, businesses and local organisations working together to make Dublin safer, stronger and more welcoming for everyone.
We want to hear what matters most to you.
✅ What makes you feel safe in your community?
✅ What safety concerns should be prioritised?
✅ How can services and agencies work better together?
Your feedback will support the work of the Dublin City Local Community Safety Partnership and help inform future community safety planning across the city.
📅 Survey launched: July 9th-August 5th

Adult Safeguarding Stakeholder Forum

Minister Kieran O’Donnell and The Department of Health hosted a Stakeholder Forum on 3 June 2026 to support the development and implementation of the National Policy Framework for Adult Safeguarding in the Health and Social Care Sector.
The forum brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including Government, the HSE and community organisations, to discuss how best to protect and support adults who may be at risk of harm. Philip Daly, Chair of our Older peoples Council in Dublin City South East Area was also in attendance.
Discussions focused on key areas such as future legislation, implementation planning and the development of safeguarding supports, including an online system and a national research strategy.
There was also a strong emphasis on empowering people to stay safe, including a session on self-guarding and practical guidance on staying safe online Age Friendly IrelandHSE Ireland
