Welcome to the resistance!
In the wake of the Dublin Flea announcing that they will not be putting on their amazing Christmas Flea, I’ve been thinking about what we should/can do about it all. Ive come to the conclusion that we need to take matters into our own hands as a group. My first thought (which began as a flippant idea) was for a guerrilla market in the lobby of Dublin City Council! As fun as that would be (and I’m in no way ruling it out) I’m starting to think a little more seriously about what we can do. The flea has gotten us so far in the fight for market space but I think we need to act as a community and think about letters to politicians, the mayor, Dublin City Council and even Michael D. We should also do surveys and petitions and of course protest. So if you’re interested in being part of this grassroots movement of marketeers fighting for somewhere to trade then please stay and share your thoughts, ideas and advice. We all have businesses to run so if you’re not up to being an active member then feel free to lurk to keep an eye on what’s going on and if you don’t have the head space don’t feel bad about leaving the group. I hope we can create some change together. - Alison
