Taking inspiration from the Irish Names Quilts (a series of quilts that were made in the 1990s to remember people who passed away from AIDS-related illnesses), Han Tiernan, co-founder of the REWINDRECORD initiative and Kate Drinane, Co-founder of Q***r Culture Ireland will host a series of patch-making workshops.

These workshops are intended to share the power and the warmth of coming together to remember, reflect upon, and celebrate our shared experiences.

Patches created during this workshop will form a new quilt which will be mounted on some of the leftover canvas from the original quilts which has been kindly donated by Christy Shannon, husband of the late Mary Shannon, founder of the Irish Names Quilts.

We would like to invite anybody who wishes to remember loved ones past or present or to celebrate the joys of life, to come along to these free workshops.

Fabric and assembly materials will be provided but please feel free to bring buttons, badges, small trinkets or other adornments to make your patch as personal as possible.

Lunchtime talk, Thursday 2 June 1.10pm (onsite and online)
The Q***r Picaresque: Pain, Pleasure, and Panic at the Darly's Print Shop , Dr Brooke Palmieri, independent historian, writer and printmaker
Drawing from the Chester Beatty's print collection, this lecture will invoke the vibrant culture of macaroni fashions depicted (and derided) across the Darly's prints, as well as read against the grain of moral panic they inspired to think expansively about what they tell us about the history of gender non-conformity and q***r fashion. This talk is organised to mark Dublin Pride.
