The Great Oven

We build ovens. Great ones. Giant, ornate ones. Functioning works of art. We stick them in unexpected places,
when community needs them most.

Our story began in Tripoli, Lebanon, where our first oven was decorated by world-renowned artist Shrine in collaboration with local youth impacted by sectarian conflict – and GO has grown from there. Our ovens are now operational in the Beqaa Valley feeding Syrian and Palestinian refugees – and in Beirut, in the wake of the blast. We do not follow the path of traditional food relief. We are not in

the business of temporary handouts. Our ovens are designed to feed many people, by empowering communities to feed themselves sustainably. This approach is multilayered
Born in contexts of urgent need, our giant ovens have the capacity to quickly cook meals on a large scale when the need for food provision is immediate and critical. In the face of severed supply chains, we connect our community ovens with local farmers, creating lasting distribution channels that minimize waste of local produce and bolster local economies.

Due to the recent developments in Lebanon, we have returned to emergency food relief.

Our kitchen in Bar Elias has significantly increased meal production to meet the urgent needs of those displaced by the war.

We are incredibly grateful to for their constant support through thick and thin.

A visit to The Great Oven Disco Cantina supports the installation of a community oven in the West Bank that will be twinned with another

With our partners we are sending vital aid to Gaza. A Palestinian-owned alternative drinks brand, Gaza Cola contributes 100% of its profit to providing vital medical aid, clean water, and data access to Palestinians in Gaza.

Our ovens have been stunningly painted by and and we have the wonderful cooking with them all weekend if you want to see them before they set off on this epic journey.

It is our pleasure to announce The Great Oven Disco Cantina, launching at and hosted by Palestinian radio station turned global cultural phenomenon .

From day to night, DJs from Palestine and across the Middle East, along with renowned Irish and international acts will spin a soundtrack of sonic solidarity.

Featuring secret sets from special surprise guests - the experience will be streamed globally via the first ever Lab in Ireland.

This is Shahira, one of our incredible core team members at The Great Oven. Like many women in Lebanon and around the world, she was never given the chance to go to school. Today, at 48, Shahira can finally write her name.

In patriarchal societies, girls are often kept from education. Their futures are confined to the home, while boys are seen as the ones worth investing in. These norms have left generations of women feeling excluded and unseen.

But it’s never too late. In partnership with our dear friends at Salam, we’ve just launched a four-month literacy course for women in our communities. We’re so proud of every single one of them for choosing to begin, no matter when.
