After being rained off twice last week the gang were back in action tonight weeding the area around the Herb Garden at Centra and the crossroads bed. Thanks Denise, Gene, Henry, Joe, John, Larry, Pat, Philip and Rosemary for helping to ensure that Dromiskin is Looking Good!

Louth Looking Good 2026!

The judging is done and the date for the Awards Ceremony agreed so it is time to say a huge thank you to our Lead Sponsor, Dundalk Credit Union. We so appreciate this support and thank the staff and board members for their generosity in helping us acknowledge the wonderful work of tidy towns volunteers throughout the county. Our sponsors are a critical part of the team that ensures that Louth is Looking Good!

Negative Post Alert!
We always try to keep our posts positive but sometimes we just have to highlight the challenges our volunteers face daily in our relentless efforts to maintain our community in a litter free manner. The bags of waste in the photo were dumped at Seabank and, thanks to our vigilant Litter Warden team in Louth County Council, someone will be getting a little surprise (or shock!) in the post when a Fixed Penalty Notice arrives. Finding pizza boxes in our lovely Viking Boat is a regular thing even though we have provided a bin no more than 10 steps away - can we ask the young people who use this sculptural piece for alfresco dining to please bin their litter and make life a little easier for our litter patrollers who are all volunteers. Your support would be appreciated!

Thank you so much to Councillor Dolores Minogue, Cathaoirleach, Louth County Council for joining us on Sunday and unveiling our new Birds Sound Clock funded by a grant from Louth County Council’s Tidy Towns Project Scheme. Dolores was fulsome in her praise for the work of tidy towns volunteers throughout the county and wished all groups the very best of luck when the results of the National Tidy Towns Competition are announced in October. Dolores was also on hand to help Eanna plant a tree in Ginnety’s Pond Nature Park to celebrate Heritage Week 2026!

Did she like it? Yes she did!
Eanna was very impressed with our wheelie bin fruit & vegetable planters demonstrating how you don’t always need a large space to Grow Your Own. Plenty of produce thriving including beetroot, carrots, cucumber, kale, peas, potatoes, strawberries and tomatoes. Thanks to Henry, John and Pat for their great work on repurposing the wheelie bins, Phoenix Waste for donating preused bins and Denise and Isobel for planting.
