The Drogheda and North East branch was delighted to get a visit from David who is completing the Listening Walk. This is an ongoing fundraising and awareness campaign by long-time Samaritans volunteer David Matthews MBE, who is travelling over 6,000 miles to visit every single Samaritans branch across the UK and Ireland
David started the initiative to shine a light on mental health and su***de prevention and he is visiting over 200 Samaritans branches on foot or by bike, camping along the way and carrying his own equipment.
The journey is designed to promote listening, kindness, and to remind people they are never alone.

Volunteers from the Drogheda and North East branch attended the annual Samaritans Impact Report event.
Our volunteers and staff are incredibly proud of the contribution they have made towards saving lives. This Impact Report shows Samaritans remains a trusted and much valued organisation, which continues to be there for people who need someone to listen without judgement.

Samaritans’ vision is that fewer people die by su***de. Our volunteers create a safe space for human connection that can often be life-saving. Every life lost to su***de is a tragedy. That’s why we’re working round the clock to reach more people and make su***de prevention a priority.

In recognition of 30 years service to the community, Hubert Murphy, CEO, Drogheda Chamber of Commerce presented a Community Champion award to the Samaritans Drogheda and North East branch. The award was sponsored by BD technical company Drogheda.

The Oriel Traditional Orchestra will be holding a Charity Concert on Sunday 19th April 2026 from 6-8pm in St. Joseph’s Pastoral Centre Hall, Broad Road, Monaghan.
