On this day, 4th July 1922 Millmount became the target of shelling by the National Army following its occupation by anti-Treaty forces.
An 18-pounder cannon gun was delivered to Drogheda from Dublin and from 9:30am to just before 4pm Millmount was the target of heavy artillery shelling before the Republican forces retreated.

Congratulations to the Louth GAA team from the Old Drogheda Society.
