There’s a story not told often enough, about the Irish men who helped build the highways that stretch across America.

They arrived with little more than hope, many fleeing hardship and famine, stepping into a new world that didn’t make things easy for them. The work they found was backbreaking, dangerous, and relentless. Long days under scorching sun or freezing winds, carving roads through rock, laying miles of asphalt, and shaping the infrastructure that would connect an entire nation.

These men labored with their hands, their strength, and their sheer determination. Safety was never guaranteed. Pay was often low. Recognition was rare. But they kept going, because they had families to feed, futures to build, and a belief that their sacrifice would mean something.

And it did.

Every highway that winds through mountains, deserts, and cities carries a piece of their story. A legacy of resilience, grit, and quiet pride.

They didn’t ask for applause. But they deserve to be remembered.

Here’s to the workers who built more than roads, they built opportunities for generations to come. 🇮🇪

A surprise day out turned into a memorable spin along the Boyne for a group of friends from Clogherhead.

Noele McEvoy treated five of her friends to a trishaw trip with Drogheda and District Services for Older People, travelling from Dominic’s Park out to Oldbridge House for tea and a visit to the gardens.

The trishaw service is available to nursing homes, groups and individuals looking for a different way to enjoy Drogheda and the Boyne Valley.

At Project Fashion, children learn to sew in a fun, creative and supportive environment where they can build confidence while bringing their ideas to life. They will learn how to use a sewing machine safely, discover different fabrics and fashion design techniques, and create their own projects step by step.

As they progress, students receive Project Fashion certificates before moving on to more exciting project-based classes, where they continue developing their creativity, sewing skills and confidence. Our Drimnagh classes take place every Friday from 3:30pm-5pm & 5pm-6:30pm at Our Lady's Hall. We'd love to welcome your child to our afterschool workshops!
