We were delighted to attend the official launch by Minister Thomas Byrne TD of "Sportuile - Driving Change Through Sport" at the Lourdes Stadium yesterday. The 5 year project, endorsed and supported by the Drogheda Implementation Board, has initially secured €200,000 a year, for the first three years from Sport Ireland to employ three Sports Development staff to work directly in the communities of Drogheda and East Meath. Meath and Louth County Councils will each provide an additional €60,000 in funding to support the work of SportUile in these communities. These additional resources will provide support to local sporting clubs and organisations in providing more opportunities for sporting and physical activities which will help develop safer and more vibrant communities.

The Drogheda implementation Board welcomes the allocations of over €145,000 from the Community Safety Fund to The Red Door Project and Connect Family Resource Centre announced recently by Minister Helen Mc Entee. The Community Safety Fund invests money seized from criminals back into projects in local communities.

The allocation to The Red Door Project - LCDAT will ensure the continuation of the valuable work carried out by the Prison Links Worker for a further two years while the allocation to Connect Frc will provide supports to parents and families to help build resilience, confidence and feeling of safety in the community, promote positive mental wellbeing and improve societal connections.

The Drogheda Implementation Board welcomed the announcement by Ministers Catherine Martin and Thomas Byrne of a €7.2m allocation towards the provision of a sports arena at St Oliver's Community College, Rathmullan.

Michael Keogh, Chair of the Drogheda Implementation Board, remarked: "The allocation of €7.2m from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports and Media together with a further allocation of €3.7m from the Department of Education represents a significant investment of almost €11m in sporting facilities in the largest post primary school in the State. The initiative, which was supported by the Drogheda Implementation Board, will address one of the actions in the Drogheda Report Implementation Plan in developing a centre of sporting excellence and will provide much needed sporting facilities in an area crying out for such investment, accommodating usage by Drogheda Wolves Basketball Club and the wider school community.

We would like to congratulate and commend Martin O'Brien , CEO of LMETB and John Halpin, Principal of St Olivers Community College for their initiative and dedication in serving the interest of sports and the wider community in the Rathmullan area.”

The Community House in Rathmullen was officially opened by Louth Local Development in collaboration with Louth County Council yesterday afternoon. The Community House was officially opened by the Mayor of the Borough District, Councillor Paddy Mc Quillan, in the presence of Councillor Kevin Callan, Cathaoirleach of Louth County Council, and Frank O’Brien, Chair of Louth Local Development. This initiative was a direct response to a recommendation in the Drogheda Report Implementation Plan to provide a hub for a wide array of community services provided by statutory and community and voluntary agencies, and builds on the work carried out in the Southside Voices project, which was supported by the Drogheda Implementation Board. We would like to congratulate everyone involved in the collaborative approach taken on this project, which will provide a valuable community resource and restore a real pride of place to families in the area.

We were delighted to attend the launch of East Coast Family Resource Centre photo exhibition in the Droichead Arts Centre on Friday evening. The concept for this project was originally generated at our event which brought community organisations together with Arts practitioners to generate ideas for how arts and culture can deliver positive impact for communities.
The atmosphere was fantastic with participants rightly proud of their work which had been supported by photographer and tutor Smyth and the team in the Droichead Arts Centre.
The photos, taken by members of a variety of groups accessing East Coast FRC supports, are really fabulous and will be on display in the gallery space in the Droichead over the coming weeks. It is free to visit, why not pop down and have a look?

Oh what a night! Huge congratulations to everyone involved in organising the Moneymore Townland Community Hub Jungle Fundraiser in the T.L.T last night. Congratulations to the new King of the Jungle Alan Wilton who was a deserved winner - absolutely nothing phased him! Well done also to the 24 brave contestants who were amazing, and provided us all with a serious night's entertainment!
The Moneymore Townland Community Hub is a priority action in the Drogheda Report Implementation Plan and we were delighted to be able to attend and support this fantastic fundraising event. The massive amount of work put in by volunteers, the hundreds of community members who attended the event, and the support shown by local businesses and organisations are a testament to the value the people of Moneymore and Drogheda generally place on this project.
