Drimoleague Walkways

Drimoleague Walkways Drimoleague Walkways St Finbarr’s Pilgrim Way, a 37km ancient pilgrim path to
St Finbarr’s hermitage at Gougane Barra, also starts here.

Drimoleague is where the the well-acclaimed Sheep’s Head Way converges with the six Drimoleague Heritage Walkways,
and then continues northwards to Kealkill. The Walkways were launched on 10th October 2008 by Mr Éamon O Cuív, Minister for Community,
Rural and Gaeltach Affairs and officially opened on 25th July 2009 by Mr Séan O'Driscoll
(Group Chief Executive Glen Dimplex.

Congratulations to Seamus O Dowd who drove from Sligo to Drimoleague for the St Finbarrs Pilgrim Walk. By walking it he completed his FIFTH walk for the Irish Pilgrim Passport yesterday. Here is Neil Lucey stamping his passport at Gougane Barra Hotel. Congratulations Seamus!

Grateful thanks to Rural Recreation Officer Mike O Brien and John Daly for repairs at the CastleDonovan car park and seat .. beautiful place now to have your Easter picnic. Other picnic tables on our walkways include The Mall, Ahanafunsion, Millard’s, Moyny bridges upriver, and a new one soon to be installed at Top of the Rock. 🧺 Bon apetit!
