New Research by Amnesty and HelpAge International - Older people in Gaza are suffering an overlooked physical and mental health crisis amid Israel’s ongoing blockade of aid and essential medicines and the recent ban on humanitarian organizations.

“During armed conflict, older people’s needs are often overlooked. In Gaza, older people are enduring an unprecedented physical and mental health collapse as a direct result of Israel’s deliberate infliction of conditions of life calculated to bring about the physical destruction of Palestinians in Gaza” said Erika Guevara-Rosas, Amnesty International’s Senior Director of Research, Advocacy, Policy and Campaigns.

The January 3 US military operation in Venezuela capturing Nicolás Maduro clearly violated the UN Charter. It was an act of aggression that endangers civilians and tears apart the guardrails of international law. Meanwhile, the crimes against humanity perpetrated by the Maduro government against the Venezuelan people remain without justice or guarantees of non-repetition.

Seán Binder, who grew up in Ireland, was cleared of all charges for volunteering as a sea rescuer in Greece. Solidarity and saving lives are not crimes. A long-overdue decision after 7 years of a life put on hold. An important win for human rights.
